Rep. Steve Buyer (R-IN) will retire this year, CBS affiliate in Indianapolis reports.
Buyer has recently been the subject of media scrutiny over possible ethics violations in connection with a charitable foundation he'd set up. The CBS affiliate reports that Buyer will officially cite his wife's health problems as a reason for his retirement.
The Republicans start out with a strong advantage to hold this seat. Buyer's district voted 56%-43% for John McCain in 2008, and before that it voted by 69%-30% for George W. Bush in 2004, and 67%-32% for Bush in 2000.

I feel for you. If O'Keefe can stay out of jail, maybe he can run there.

The VA won't miss him. He will start out as a "consultant" to get around lobbying rules and then open his own lobbying firm to get all that unlimited money the SCOTUS just released. I'm sure that decision helped him make up his mind. As predictable as the day is long!

I live in his congressional district and was an Obama coordinator in one of the townships during 2008. There are a few dem pockets, but this seat will stay Republican

There never were any golf tournaments. Buyer's family just used the foundation money to take nice winter vacations. That's my best guess.
