As an addendum to this post, which noted that House leadership would hold a caucus meeting this afternoon to regain control over their caucus and put together a new coalition to pass health care: that meeting has been canceled, and rescheduled for 9 a.m. tomorrow morning.
Leadership will instead hold individual meetings with key members--including progressives, and blue dogs--to achieve the same ends.
We'll bring you more information about who's involved and what the message is when we get it.

Key members? Isn't every member a "key member", at this point?
Prepare yourselves. Dems are going to fold like a cheap suit.

I disagree simply because Pelosi knows what is at stake. And the individual meetings are more likely to be productive.

Agreed. Pelosi's a pretty good tactician.

She is, but when you have Barney Frank insisting that Dems do nothing (!!!!) on HCR, I'm not optimistic about her chances of getting this herd of cats in order.

Agreed. Much more effective to beat up on her caucus individually.

Prepare yourselves. Dems are going to fold like a cheap suit....
....and we get three years of a do-nothing Congress chasing their own tails while the White House sits by watching them.
Cue the Who.

I kinda look forward to that first phone call from the DSCC telling me I need to contribute in order to expand the Dems' majority.

If they got 99 senators they'd still refuse to pass anything without unanimity. Wouldn't be prudent.

Time for Nancy Pelosi to knock some heads. She's a really good speaker, so if anyone can do it, I think she can. I recommend she starts with Barney Frank...

I am wondering if she cancelled the main meeting, b/c she knows the rank and file are in line already, and only needs to concentrate on the fringes of the party. Especially now that Labor has signed on to passing this thing as well...if anyone can herd cats it is Speaker Pelosi. I have more respect for her than anyone else in the 'leadership' right now.

This is my impression, but I just don't understand the noise, if you want to call it that, coming out of the White House.

I don't know, I read the opposite, people are so hysterical that a group meeting will quickly turn into mass hysteria as everyone feeds on each others cowardice. One-on-one you have a better shot of turning things around.
As for the WH, what's going on right now better be them preparing for the House not being willing to go along...and the State of the Union better be the "I'm not going to take it anymore" speech, not the Bill Clinton laundry list.

Hopefully Nancy's bringing her brass knuckles (and brass balls) to these "individual meetings".

Pelosi always changes her thoughts and decisions depending on the condition which is a feature of a politician.
