Former Massachusetts governor and probable second-time presidential hopeful Mitt Romney will soon be back on the trail and hitting Iowa to promote what has been described by his spokesman as "an ideas book.''
The Boston Globe took a look at the March 2 kickoff for Romney's "No Apology: The Case for American Greatness."
Romney (R) will speak at Iowa State University in Ames and visit Des Moines, but the book tour should not be expected to mirror Sarah Palin's, the Globe reported. They haven't announced the stops for the rest of the tour, which will wind through 18 states.
Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom told the Globe:
"Inevitably there are going to be comparisons with the Sarah Palin book ... We're not going to match her crowd size or sales. These are two different people with different ways of expressing themselves.''
According to the Globe, the "No Apology" publisher will print 200,000 copies of the book, far less than the 1.5 million copies printed in the first run of Palin's "Going Rogue."
Romney often pointed to stories from "Turnaround," his book about his role in the 2002 Winter Olympics, on the campaign trail.
His Free and Strong America PAC contributed more than $427,000 to candidates and "conservative causes" in 2008, Fehrnstrom told TPMDC. Romney also traveled the country for the GOP presidential ticket in 2008, but kept a lower profile in 2009.

As my Mom used to say:
"Show me someone who never apologizes and I'll show you an infant in an adult body."

Did she know George W. Bush personally, then, or had she just read about him?

Wait just a minute! Shrub DID pick up (and read) My Pet Goat! I saw him do it myself, while something-or-other was happening in New York in 2001.

I also thought Bush read, like 150 books in 2007 or something, so I'm not sure which is worse: someone in a position demanding the highest intellectual engagement not reading any books, or someone in that position who reads all the time but aparently doesn't understand a word of what he reads.

Sorry. The 'books' of the Bible do not count. :D

As long as they keep this up, they will get slaughtered in 2012. Legitimate repuke national politicians will never have a chance in a general until they either start a new party or keep hoping that the dems will screw up, which they very well might unfortunately.
However, the possibility of a major screw up is less with obama as party leader. Even when he is no longer president, he will be a major moderating influence on the dem party. Where is the repuke obama? Doesn't exist and hasn't for decades. The tea baggers have taken over the party and until they are put out to pasture the repukes probably won't win a national election.

I can't wait to see the look on Romney's face when Palin wins the GOP nomination.

Or whoever. Romney will never win the nomination. He's a Mormon. He doesn't fit the tea bagger religious test. He will spend 50 million plus of his own money and lose again. What a shame.

He gonna stop at used-car lots & check-cashing/pawn shops all across the USA to peddle his book. Large crowds not expected to camp out overnight waiting on this walking poster for Brylcreem.

Except that Mittens spent all of 2007 and 2008 issuing de facto apologies for his record as Mass. governor. (I don't think he ever said he was sorry but his effort to run away from his record and past positions was nothing if not an apology.)

So will the book involve Romney making "no apology" once again for a complete change of political beliefs as he positions himself for 2012?

At least Romney doesn't have a trailer trash vibe like someone else on a book tour recently. As a matter of fact he is practically elite with all that money and using words with fancy syllables and all. He is incredibly fake so it will be interesting to see who he is on his next run for the White House.
