The Service Employees International Union, along with several hundred separate organizations, are urging President Obama and members of Congress, to defer largely to the House's health care bill, arguing that it does a superior job of expanding insurance coverage in a way that's affordable to consumers.

"The House covers five million more people than the Senate," reads an open letter from the groups. "We urge you to support the coverage provisions in the House bill, so that millions of Americans are not left uninsured after the passage of comprehensive health reform."

But it's not just that. The House, they say, "sets premiums and out-of-pocket costs at levels that are likely to be affordable to lower-income working families. The House does a much better job in protecting lower-income people."

It's not that the Senate bill is worse in all respects, though--and insofar as the Senate bill is superior, Obama and Congressional leaders should defer to it. "The Senate approach provides somewhat better protections for middle-income workers, but would require lower-wage workers to buy insurance that costs many thousands of dollars more than the House legislation," the letter reads.

With the public option gone, the key issue now for reform groups is affordability. That means they prefer the House's subsidy provisions, and financing schemes. That'll be a tough fight to win. You can read the entire letter here.

Suckers! The Whitehouse doesn't care what these people want. Big business is talking, and that is who the Whitehouse sides with, the bosses/management.

though, if anything, throwing more tax money at the insurance industry and pharma through more subsidies, yeah, they might go for that,

if they can still make it look conservative on paper. Of course, leaving the industry outside of anti-trust laws, and with the weak policing of regulations, it is throwing money at a problem, and little else.

Ben Nelson seems correct when he recently said:

“I think it was a mistake to take health care on as opposed to continuing to spend the time on the economy,”

Indie Pro defines "bully" as anyone who doesn't hate the president and calls Indie Pro on Indie Pro's bullshit. I'm honored.

Just curious how sending the House Bill virtually intact over to the Senate would fare? Not too well, I imagine.

I know the returned bill is not subject to amendment, but is it still susceptible to filibuster, and if so, why?

There are several other provisions such as, removing the Anti-Trust Exemption and making the Exchanges national which, together would acomplish the same thing as a public option would. I like this President and would never vote Republican but, if Obama and the Dems don't make these and other changes they're going to get their asses handed to them in November because many Dems will stay home. I'll be one of them.

There may be another reason: The Senate Bill taxes "Cadillac" insurance plans, the HOuse Bill does not. Think the SEIU is concerned that their benefits may be taxed? NIMBY has changed to NIMBP (Not In My Back Pocket)
