Tea Party Nation members spent less than an hour celebrating Republican Scott Brown's victory in Massachusetts before they got to work to end another Republican's Senate candidacy.

Organizers of the Tea Party Nation, which has banned "liberal trolls" from its Web site in advance of next month's convention in Nashville, last night told members the "next battle" is in Illinois to make sure Rep. Mark Kirk does not win the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate.

The primary is Feb. 2 and the Tea Party Nation warns that if Kirk (R-IL) wins, "this fall Illinois will have a choice between two liberals for the Illinois Senate seat." They call Kirk a "RINO," which stands for Republican In Name Only, with a "consistently liberal" record compared to Pat Hughes, who they called a "solid Conservative."

But Kirk (also a top target for Democrats) asked his supporters to help Brown. Last night he tweeted about the Brown victory to boost his own candidacy:

Congrats to Scott Brown on a Massachusetts Miracle! Let's make Illinois the next blue state to flip red! Sign up: http://j.mp/58b5N7 #tcot 13 hrs ago

Talk about symbolism - if the Republicans could win the Kennedy seat in Massachusetts and then the seat once held by President Obama, the GOP would be in high heaven.

A message to all members of Tea Party Nation

Congratulations to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in voting for Senator Elect Scott Brown! The nation cheers with you!

Now on to next battle!

Mostly ignored because of the news surrounding Scott Brown, the Illinois primary is coming up on February 2, 2010. RINO Congressman Mark Kirk is running for Obama's old seat. If he wins the Republican nomination, this fall Illinois will have a choice between two liberals for the Illinois Senate seat.

Mark Kirk is one of 8 Republican Congressmen who voted for Cap & Trade. His voting record is consistently liberal. Illinois voters do have a choice on February 2.

Pat Hughes is a solid Conservative who is running for the Republican Nomination.

Now that Scott Brown has won, consider donating your time and money to support Pat Hughes' campaign.

Once again, congratulations goes out to Senator Elect Scott Brown!

Hope the tea baggers work really hard to knock Kirk off. He's the only hope the Reps have for winning the seat.

Progressive Punch shows Kirk's LIFETIME Progressive rating on All Issues to be 20.44%. In short, he is ranked 269 outta 434.

Of course that is precisely 20.44% too high for the tea party folks... they won't be happy with anyone ranked less than 436th of 435...

Kirk was going to have a hard time against either of the two top Dems Hoffman (getting all the endorsements) or Giannoulis (has all the money and connections to Obama). But he was the only shot in Hades the GOP had of getting the seat, especially if its framed by the Cook County Dems as saving Obama's seat.

Yeah Baggers! Pushing for the political version of
ethnic cleansing....that'll play well in Cook County.
Honest to God if these morons found a rope in the
desert, they'd swear they were cowboys.
Maybe this is the silver lining to Coakley's hideously
mismanaged campaign, total misinterpretation by the wing nuts.
Three Cheers for Ideological Purity!

It appears obvious that Tea Partiers are neither republican nor democrat but independent voters who lean center right (like the majority of the country). They believe in smaller government and lower taxes. They also seem to want a sensible health care bill that won’t bankrupt the nation, does not increase taxes, and takes the best common sense ideas from both parties for the better of the nation. I think Democrats need to consider tort reform and republicans must accept intrastate insurance exchanges to provide insurance competition. They agree eliminating the denial insurance due to pre-existing medical conditions. Small businesses grouping together to volume purchase employee insurance. I agree there are some right wing crazy tea party folks but ever side has the extremist.
Many here on TPM seem to have allowed the media to frame the tea party as racist crazies and I believe you are incorrect. In my opinion we could be watching a new moderate political party growing out of both dems and republican candidates. Also, if the new folks recently voted in by tea party support do not vote as they promised I expect they will be kicked out just as fast as they are being put in. I would not be surprised to see as many repubs who are currently frothing at the mouth that Mark Brown's win was a sign that the voters have returned to the Republican Party. I believe they are very mistaken. I think many Americans immediately want jobs and U.S. foreign and domestic policy made from the middle road of common sense.

A) The majority of the country does not lean center right. Please look up the concept of the Overton Window, the concept in play. Here is a good definition to get you started: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overton_window

B) Tort reform offers no benefit to the average American, just to the average American multimillion dollar corporation.

C) The tea baggers have done a great job framing THEMSELVES as a group of racist, extremist rightwing nutjobs, they didn't need any help from TPM. There is nothing moderate about this movement.

D) I agree with you on your last line. Common sense from the obstructionists in Washington would be a refreshing surprise right now. Where's their proposal? Hint: it would probably be palatable to more Americans if it were a plan that was grounded in reality instead of ideology.

Americans are facing some very real problems these days; where are the workable ideas for actual solutions from the right?

"Many here on TPM seem to have allowed the media to frame the tea party as racist crazies "

Er, no. They did that all by themselves, by virtue of what they say and how they behave.

These goobers won't realize until it's too late that the people of MA voted for Brown in spite of, not because of, the teabaggers.

Why have you posted that picture? We here in his congressional district, those of us who have seen him recently, refer to that picture as his high school yearbook picture. He doesn't look like that anymore, not for a decade or so. We pressured him to stop using that picture on his own site and it's the only thing he's actually listened to us on. We also pressured him to stop lying about terrorism and health care reform, but he's still doing that.
