Senate candidate Marco Rubio (R-FL) got the party started this morning at the Conservative Political Action Conference with an uplifting speech that offered the promise of both hope and change.
Rubio warned repeatedly he thinks the Obama administration is attempting to "redefine" the role of government from spending to fighting terrorism.
He didn't talk about Republicans but said there is energy in the conservative movement.
"From tea parties to the election in Massachusetts we are witnessing the single greatest pushback in American history," Rubio said, to cheers.
He said this fall's elections are "a referendum on the very identity of our nation." The crowd responded with "whoa!"
As we reported earlier, Rubio is challenging Gov. Charlie Crist in the GOP primary. He didn't mention his Republican rival - who is not attending CPAC - but quipped, "a long list of early establishment endorsements will not spare you a primary."
Rubio said he wants to abolish taxes on capital gains, interests and "death."
He also said conservatives want their children to inherit their "hopes and dreams."

The Obama's Administration is radical, and wants to "redefine" the Country, blah, blah, blah...
That just about covers it. What are they going to talk about for the next 3 days?

Amen Itsallabou...
Let's preserve an American aristocracy where the rich continue to get richer while tricking the masses into feeling 'empowered' because the super wealthy ALSO allow them to hold on to more of their taxes.
And about "Greatest Pushback in History", let's wait and see if you hit 60 senators and take the Presidency in 2012 before making that claim. I have to imagine that more independents will see that there is no difference between the economic philosophy of Today's Great Pushback and those of Bush's economic catastrophe!
A recovery that sh!ts on the people in the name of big business is a fraud. There cannot be a strong America without a strong Main Street.
Healthcare reform, banking regulation, and smart jobs bills are the key. Tax cuts without budget cuts, wars without tax revenue, and unfunded social programs (No Child Left Behind and the Medicare Prescription Plan - see all of the Republican accolades of recent note) all lead to massive budget deficits and an unstable economy.
By the time 2012 roll around, our economy will be heading up and the scare tactics will ring hollow.

Yeah, right, the election in Massachusetts signifies 'the greatest pushback in American history'. Reep hyperbole knows no bounds.
"My breakfast this morning was the SINGLE GREATEST BREAKFAST IN AMERICAN HISTORY!!!"
