Bachmann: 'If We Reject Israel, Then There Is A Curse That Comes Into Play'

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) has declared that America has a serious obligation to support Israel -- and if not, God will curse the United States, and it will be the end of this country.
The Minnesota Independent reports that Bachmann told the Republican Jewish Coalition, at an event last week in Los Angeles:
"I am convinced in my heart and in my mind that if the United States fails to stand with Israel, that is the end of the United States . . . [W]e have to show that we are inextricably entwined, that as a nation we have been blessed because of our relationship with Israel, and if we reject Israel, then there is a curse that comes into play. And my husband and I are both Christians, and we believe very strongly the verse from Genesis [Genesis 12:3], we believe very strongly that nations also receive blessings as they bless Israel. It is a strong and beautiful principle."

No surprise, but she appears to be yet another Talibangelist who claims that the Bible is literal truth but doesn't actually read it. The verse she cites doesn't say there's a curse on those that don't support Israel, just on those that curse Israel.
No one in the US Government is explicitly blessing or cursing Israel, and personally, I think Bush's policy of "do whatever you want, the money and arms will keep flowing, and maybe peace will magically appear" was more of a curse than anything any other administration has done.

She's crazy, and, apparently, illiterate.
Genesis 12:3 (God speaking to Abram):
"And I will bless those who bless you
And curse him that curses you;
And all the families of the earth
Shall bless themselves by you."
Nowhere does this passage mention the modern State of Israel; God will make of Abram a great nation (previous verse), and this great nation is who are now called the Jewish people, spread all over the world, not the State of Israel. So she best be blessing US, not some political entity, and even so, following Israel's every whim is not the definition of blessing it.

SHe and her "Brother in Christ" Hagee will do everything they can to provoke Israel to bomb Iran because they really believe that JC and his Sonshine Band are going to intervene at Armageddon. They really believe that right now JC and his gang are having their Last Supper at the Howard Johnson's on Alpha Centauri and as soon as JC finishes his Tendersweet Clam Roll, he's going to get into his Ford Explorer, pop open his trunk, turn on his Holy Hoover Vacuum Cleaner and suck up every rich white American Christian Republican into the trunk and then head for home.

Whats really scary is the motives behind such sentiments. Many of the fundamentalists who take this banner do it with the goal of bringing the rapture as soon as they can. Once Israel is restored to its former glory, Jesus will return. Their goal is to destroy the world including, America. I think we should have some patriot hearings of those elected officals to see who really has america's best interest in mind.
