CPAC Speaker Condemns CPAC For Allowing Gay Conservative Group (VIDEO)

Doesn't sound like the GOP is a big tent after all.

You'd think the GOProud crowd would figure out they weren't wanted when they saw "Fag Drag: 10pm" on the CPAC itinerary, but some people are dense. They'd probably be proudly defending their conservative beliefs while President-for-life Palin was shutting the gas chamber door.

I give the crowd a little credit for booing. It's good to see that this argument can get booed even at CPAC.

Class-A asshole. Someone should circulate this widely. Let the people of America see the future of the Republican Party.

I used to be like them. Not a GOProuder; in my case trying to be an active Catholic while knowing I was gay. I was as fervent on the 95% of things I agreed with the church on as much as I could, hoping that they would then look over the 5% we disagreed on and accept me. Guess what? Didn't happen.

GOProud broke off from the Log Cabin Republicans because the LCRs weren't "conservative enough". They've been trying to stress their support for the 95% of conservative stances they agree with. Well guess what? Everyone there is just gonna focus on the 5% and say you don't belong.

I wonder when they will realize this.

I love how conservatives have to suffer under the cognitive dissonance of having to stress the importance of NATURE and adhering to NATURAL law when it comes to why gays and lesbians must be repressed. And here I thought they were always stressing how the goodness of humans arises from when we DON'T obey our natural impulses, in other words, by doing UNNATURAL things! So which is it, geniuses?

I mean, you don't even have to bring up the whole gay penguin thing to show how ridiculous the anti-gay GOP is.

The crowd deserves credit for booing - just not much. You can count on right-wingers embracing positions that liberals fought for 40 years before, just like fashion and music always repeats what was avant-garde 20 years back. If you're GOP, libertarian or Tea Party, you live and die by Will Rogers' line: "Progress was all right once, but it's gone too far".

I bet you won't find a single CPAC attendee who'd lynch a black man for disrespecting white women. That doesn't mean conservatives are evolving any faster than they ever have.

Natural Rights?!? Men have used "Natural Rights" as justification for everything from despotism to genocide, from territorial aggression to bigotry. And now .... homophobia???

I thought we killed this beast 234 years ago when we replaced natural rights with the unalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

So his group, California Young Americans for Freedoms, wants to deny another group the freedom to be Conservative?

Homophobia is even grosser. Believe it or not, most people that are comfortable with their own sexuality don't go out of their way to describe it as a disgusting behavior. Nor are they self-proclaimed experts on the origins of it. They sort of just let people live their own lives without making over-the-top remarks. I know human decency and respect isn't for everyone though.

Moreover, a man and woman aren't required to create a family. A loving gay couple are completely capable of raising children and deserve that right.

And let me assure you, it's not a choice. I might ask you when you chose to be straight. Was there a definitive moment when you decided you'd be attracted to girls? With all the bigotry out there, wouldn't many "choose" not to be gay? I guess all the counseling many go through is an elaborate act. I guess all the misery many have endured on a daily basis from people like you is out of a want for special attention.

Or it could be you have no idea what you are talking about. It is nice that you think discrimination is wrong, but when your message is underscored by the very same type of damaging remarks that hinder gay men and women from feeling equal in our society, it kinda ruins the point.

The lesbians I met at Smith College would kick this prick's ass.

How do we distinguish booing from disapproval, and the normal --for them--booing of the mere mention (of gays)?
