Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) has a new Web video attacking his right-wing primary challenger, former Rep. J.D. Hayworth, blasting Hayworth for being "consumed by conspiracies" about President Obama's birth certificate.

The video compares Hayworth's pro-Birther comments on both TV and radio to the infamous rantings of such leading Birthers as Orly Taitz and Philip Berg. "The only difference between these people" the narrator says. "Only one is running for the U.S. Senate."

So here's a good question for John McCain's campaign: Does running on an anti-Birther platform help in a Republican primary? Keep in mind that the Arizona state House is advancing a bill supported by Republican legislators, to require presidential candidates to submit their birth certificates.

What percentage of the Arizona Republican primary electorate will think that this is an ad for Hayworth, at least until the last 10 seconds?

John McCain attacking his opponent from the left??? It woud be nice if some democrats would attack their opponents from the left. Mind you, this is not the FAR left, this is not even center-left or plain center, this is all far right wing stuff. This is McCain attacking the "bat-shit crazy extreme right", from the slightly more left "I'm NOT bat-shit crazy extreme right."

Too funny. This ad definitely won't help mccain in the primary. In fact, it probably insults a vast majority of repuke primary voters.
