Palin: 'It Would Be Absurd To Not Consider' Running For President In 2012
Appearing on Fox News Sunday, Sarah Palin did not rule out running for president in 2012. "I would. I would if I believe that that is the right thing to do for our country and for the Palin family. Certainly, I would do so," said Palin, also adding: "I think that it would be absurd to not consider what it is that I can potentially do to help our country."
Palin: Obama Could Win In 2012 If He Played 'War Card'
Also during her Fox News Sunday appearance, Sarah Palin commented on how President Obama could potentially win reelection in 2012: "It depends on a few things. Say he played, and I got this from Buchanan, reading one of his columns the other day. Say he played the war card," said Palin. "Say he decided to declare war on Iran, or decided to really come out and do whatever he could to support Israel, which I would like him to do. But that changes the dynamics in what we can assume is going to happen between now and three years. Because I think if the election were today, I do not think Obama would be re-elected."
Brennan: I Briefed GOP Leaders On Handling Of Christmas Attack -- They Didn't Object
Appearing on Meet The Press, Deputy National Adviser John Brennan criticized Republicans' objections to the administration's handling of terrorism, saying that he is "tiring of politicians using national security issues, such as terrorism, as a political football...They're unknowing of the facts." Brennan also said that he called Republican leaders on Christmas evening, to inform them how the attempted Flight 253 bombing was being handled. "None of those individuals raised any concerns with me at that point," said Brennan.
Hillary Clinton: 'I've Had A Number Of Conversations' On Health Care Reform
Appearing on State of the Union, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said she has had some conversations with the White House on health care reform, in light of her own experiences with the issue in 1993 and 1994. "Well when I'm asked I am very happy to respond," Clinton said. "I mean it's not anything I have direct responsibility for, but I've had a number of conversations. And both in the White House, and on the Hill, and with others who are playing a constructive role. And I - I like I think many Americans hope that there can be a positive outcome."
Hillary Clinton Stands By Obama's Engagement Strategy With Iran
Appearing on State of the Union, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that Iran has not responded to the Obama administration's outreach, but that the outreach itself was beneficial. "But the fact is, because we engaged, the rest of the world has really begun to see Iran the way we see it," said Clinton, also adding: "Yes, we reached out on engagement to Iran, but we always had the second track which is that we would have to try to get the world community to take stronger measures if they didn't respond on the engagement front."
Geithner: 'We Are Beginning The Process Of Healing'
Appearing on This Week, Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner said that the economic situation has been improving, and that the risk of a double-dip recession has lessened. "We have much, much lower risk of that [a double-dip recession] today than at any time over the last 12 months or so," Geithner said. "Again just think of where we are. We are in an economy that was growing at the rate of almost 6 percent of GDP in the fourth quarter of last year. The most rapid rate in six years. So we are beginning the process of healing."
Greenspan: Taxes Must Be Raised To Address The Deficit -- And Entitlement Benefits Must Come Down
Appearing on Meet The Press, former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan said: "I have no doubts that we have to raise taxes in order to close this huge deficit. But we cannot do it wholly on the tax side because that would significantly erode the rate of growth in the economy and the tax base, and the revenues that would be achieved would be far less than anybody'd expect. We have to recognize the fact that one of the things that we have to do, as tough as it's going to be, is that benefits are going to have to be paired in conjunction with tax increases to resolve this very serious long-term budget problem."

And Josh, Eric, Brian? Why aren't we making fun of her crib notes on the hand today?
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/stefan-sirucek/did-palin-use-crib-notes_b_452458.html
An alleged presidential candidate needs crib notes to remember to include the words "Energy", "Tax," "Lift American Spirits" and "Budget Cuts" (with 'budget' marked out for some reason)" in whatever nonsense she spews out? Seriously?

I don't know if you're joking or not, but I'm now starting to think Palin needs more scrutiny. The fact that she is being taken seriously as a presidential contender is deeply disturbing.

Oh, man. Even in her cocoon she needs crib notes!
This is in keeping with the 2 or 3 canned replies she offered during the V.P. debate, which usually didn't match the topic of the questions.
Empty head + religious certitude = DANGER! DANGER!

Tell me how important you think this is when that imbecile's finger is on the Big Red Button. Tell me whether you think this important if she gets elected president because, as with George W. Bush, the media thinks its poor form to call attention to the fact that she's not merely stupid, but aggressively stupid, the kind of stupid that thinks stupidity is a form of moral purity and a trait actively to be cultivated.
This isn't just making fun of the loonies because it's fun, like is is with Bachmann. This is deadly important. The woman is spoken of as if she were a serious presidential contender yet None Dare Call Her Stupid. She's dumber than Bush, dumber than Warren G. Harding, and she is every bit as militaristic and bellicose as Dick Cheney and Bill Kristol.
Shouldn't we at least be having a bit of a discussion about whether being as mindbendingly stupid as she is is at least potentially disqualifying to hold the most powerful office in the world? Shouldn't we at least be drawing attention to the entire order of magnitude of her stupidity over Bush's stupidity?
It's time to stop laughing. It's bloody serious. Emphasis on "blood."

Okay now, don't explode or implode at the following:
The media is what is making Palin the public's politico centerfold. The more media pays attention to her at this point, the better it bodes for her future endeavors. The tea baggers and cohorts will never change their mind about her, because she is 'one of them'.
However, IMO if we instead devote our time and energy to working towards achieving some more important goals needed to help build a better infrastructure (inside and outside of government) - this will provide a better foundation to attract Independents, Dem's and all who pay attention.
Sarah only creates chaos and chaos is not our friend.
I respect and understand your stance, but at this time I think we are helping make much ado about nothing by giving her and what she does much attention - which when we do, only encourages the MSM, et al. to do the same.

I hope the media keeps it up. I want her to run and force the likes of Romney, Huckabee, and Pawlenty to the extreme right. Joe Scarborough is already showing signs of the freak out that will happen in the GOP.
I doubt if she could win one primary but I would sure like to see the look on Mitt Romney's face if she did. If by some miracle she managed to win the GOP nomination all the disillusioned Dems and Indies and the sane Republicans would come out it droves to keep her away from the red button. I just hope she doesn't implode before then.

Furthermore... why haven't we asked ourselves why an incurious ditz with crib notes on her hand is somehow managing to parrot perfectly a GOP talking point that we've already heard once from Buchanan, this week; namely "To save his political career, Obama needs to bomb Iran"?
And boy, they just keep power-rotating the Classics, don't they? I wonder if they really think they can wuss Obama into reversing his policy of engagement and starting a third major off-budget war front? I wonder, for that matter... if they're right?

Hard to say. She has to stay long enough for the advance on her ghost-written memoirs to exceed seven digits, but the longer she stays, the worse things get and the lower the advance on her ghost-written memoirs will be. I'm guessing two or three weeks into her term before she turns the reins over to Vice President Tancredo.

Nah, the question is how soon does she implement the rapture. She'll have her finger on the button. It would only be a matter of time before she would nuke the world so that all non-"christians", that's code for everyone other than those non-lily white bible thumpers, are wiped out so the white bible thumpers can rule the world. Very frightening that this lunatic has a platform and could be president. Very frightening.

The only way she has a chance -- in the primary or general election -- is if she can figure out how to avoid debates and stay in her cocoon, without it damaging her politically. Even though a lot of people are willing to let her make her own rules, that would still be tough to pull off.

Actually he will, but not in the way Palin thinks. By 2012 Obama will be claiming to have ended combat operations in Iraq (actually he'll start claiming this in August of this year, but there will be a lot of support troops that will be staying past this august but in theory leaving before 2012) and claiming to have begun a withdrawal from Afghanistan. If he actually does significantly reduce operations in either theater that will at some point start to save a lot of money, so he'll probably be able to point to how much he reduced the deficit. Obama's reelection stunt will be ending wars, not starting them.

The gift that keeps on giving. These bozos make George Bush look thoughtful.
They may be the darlings of the tea party set, but don't mistake volume for numbers. The tea partiers are a small group of kooks. Remember, even Cheney had 17% approval ratings.
