Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) was sworn into the U.S. Senate this afternoon by Vice President Biden.
Brown becomes the 41st Republican in the Senate, ending the Democrats' filibuster-proof supermajority.
He was sworn in earlier than expected after sending a letter to the Massachusetts governor yesterday demanding the election be certified right away. The results were certified this morning.
At a press conference after the swearing-in, Brown told reporters he looks forward to working with the Democrats, but he did not specify which issues he wanted to work with them on.
He also denied rumors today that he rushed his move to Washington in order to block the confirmation of Craig Becker, a former union lawyer, to the National Labor Relations Board.
"I haven't spoken to the leadership since the last time I was here," he said.

No, but he probably will block the Jobs Bill.
He said the Stimulus didn't create one job in MA. Not one, he says.

Also, he may not have spoken to leaders, but he did Speak to Sen. McCain (who is blocking Becker). He looks to McCain as a mentor shows all of his intent as to what it is.

Scott Brown hasn't the highest of IQs. For someone who served at least six terms in the state legislature, he shows no political awareness except that of babbling the typical failed, bullshit talking points we always get from the vapid Republicans.

He's a liar.
And get this: his wife is Gail Huff, a reporter for Boston's Channel 5 news -- the most-watched news program in the Boston area. So it's been not-so-subtle wall-to-wall celebration of Brown's "stunning win," including editorializing palmed off as news.
After the swearing-in press conference, their main newsreader exulted in how Brown "fielded" questions. "Fieled" does not mean, of course, "answer": in non-answer to the questions all he did was repeat his campaign dslogans -- the same failed bullshit "new course" we always get from vapid Republican shills.

I haven't seen him drive that since the commercial in which he purported to drive it.
Channel 5, though, did report from outside his house within the last day or two -- and made a point of pointing to the "pickup truck" in the driveway.

Let's hope Uptown Scotty Brown will bring honor & dignity to the office, unlike Butthead Ted, who disgraced it for 40 years.

Scott Brown, "Cosmo"'s lightweight smut-peddler.
Ted Kennedy represented the majoirty of MA coters -- which is why he was repeatedly re-elected.
But let's not talk about Republican Gov. Sanford, who not only committed adultery, but also abandoned his office in order to get laid. And yet Republicans won't hold him to account -- because he's a Republican.
And let's not talk about "Toe-Tap Dancer" Craig.
And let's not talk about "New Orleans Diapered Brothel-Crawling" Vitter.
And let's not talk about the Bushit criminal enterprise lying the country into illegally invading and occupying Iraq, replacing Saddam as Torturer-in-Chief, and getting thousands of US troops killed -- solely for political ends.

Odds are that Obama and the Democrats will see more of a benefit to having Republicans holding enough seats for a filibuster than the GOP will.

Scott Brown is for "tax cuts across the board" -- except when a few seconds later he's for "targetted tax cuts".
Anything to work in the buzzphrase "tax cuts," even if it results in incoherent gibberish. Teaprty lemmings will love it -- even though it is about tax cuts for corporations and others not needing them, and laying off those few teapartiers who have jobs instead of trailer park welfare.

When Franken was declared the winner in Minn. some respected pundit - I wish I could recall who -- said that the biggest problem facing Obama was a majority in the House and, in theory, a super-majority in the Senate. Well, he doesn't have both of those any more .. so we'll see.

Elizabeth,
President Obama and the Democratic Party are still the majority party in both the House and the Senate.
The only difference now is that as of late this afternoon, they no longer hold a 'super majority' ie., a filibuster proof majority in the Senate. Furthermore, the Democrates only had a super majority, if both Sanders and Lieberman voted with them. And we have all been witness to Lieberman's 'push me-pull you' behavior.
