Top aides to House Democratic leaders issued a statement decrying Republicans who sent out a memo that they claimed was written by Democrats.
In an email, Speaker Nancy Pelosi spokesman Nadeam Elshami and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer spokeswoman Stephanie Lundberg said Republicans - who earlier dismissed questions about the memo's legitimacy - will "do anything" to stop health care from passing on Sunday.
They said in a joint statement emailed to reporters:
Opponents of health reform can't win on the merits of their arguments so they must stoop to acts of desperation to deny Americans an honest and truthful debate. The latest examples of this came today with the maligning of Democratic Members on the House Floor, and the circulation of an apparently fraudulent memo that was falsely attributed to Democratic staffers. These two incidents are exhibits Y and Z in a long line of evidence showing that opponents of health reform will do anything and say anything to stand in the way.
Republican leaders have said they will do anything to stop this bill, but no matter what they do, Democrats will continue working to deliver affordable health care for America's middle class.
We've been talking to staffers all day and will be updating readers soon on what we've pieced together.

God, Republicans as such fucking assholes. From Congressional ones to turds-with-ears like Drudge.
They're having a week-long meltdown over the apparently-unbearable indignity of us helping the 120 Americans that die without health care every single day.
Words just can't do justice to how despicable these demons in human form are.

They dont care about the American people, they know that this bill takes free money away from their bosses (insurance companies) and it will help the Dems politically since it will help a lot of people, that is why they hate it so much.

They still can't get over the fact that there is a black man in the White House, and that he was freely elected by a 9 million vote majority, when their blue-blood son of a former President was elected 8 years earlier by [-500,000] votes. So, naturally, they are devoting 100% of their efforts to legitimizing him. And it is failing. So they are getting more shrill and insulting. Next, when the crack between the far right (otherwise known as mainstream republicans) and traditional conservatives (otherwise known as traditional conservatives) splits wide opin this summer, in primary after primary, they will lose to democrats and former moderate republicans (now known as democrats and independents). And it will be sweet when it happens.

Oops - of course I meant to say "de-legitimizing him." Sorry.
