Former eBay CEO Meg Whitman, a candidate for the Republican gubernatorial nomination in California, has a new TV ad touting her businesswoman sensibilities.

"So we have no choice but to make California far more efficient and effective than it is, by running this thing a little bit more like a business," says Whitman. "Government will never be a business, it shouldn't be a business. But it does need a dose of 'How do we do more for less?'"

No, that was Carly Fiorina. She is running for Senator against Boxer.

This woman is the former head of Ebay. She is spending billions on these ads trying to sell herself as a breath of fresh air. No thanks. We've had our fill of the terminator who was supposed to rescue California from the brink. Look how well that worked out. 6 years of Arnold and we are worse off than ever before. No more repukes.

I am curious as to why a woman with her billions, can't get a fricking hair transplant. The woman needs to cover up that moon of a forehead.

I never heard of Sheer Genius but she needs to do something. I know she can't help that she has a receding hairline but with all her billions she should do something.

Maybe we need and MBA President.

Didn't GWB come into office saying he was going to run the country like he ran his businesses? Every one of his businesses swam in red ink, so I guess he did what he said he would do.

Run California a bit more like a business?

Good idea!

How about starting with the fact that no business would have a rule that required budgets to be approved by a supermajority of the board of directors?

After that, how about the fact that no well-run business would tolerate a system whereby some customers were guaranteed low prices in perpetuity while others were required to pay full-whack for the same facilities.

And to top it off, how about the fact that most businesses that had been defrauded of tens of billions of dollars by the criminal collusion of a corrupt cartel would sue the cartel for damages rather than replacing the CEO with someone who was allied with the cartel members.

How about no well run business would include a model where decisions are made by a congress. No business would include a model where an impartial outsider could tell the CEO what the congress meant.

You cannot imagine the amount of $$$ she's spending or the level of saturation of the airwaves.

It's positively (Michael) Huffingtonian.

And her image still sucks. Her ads are ridiculous and full of lies and fabrications. Maybe the California dems should start running ads asking when she is going to sit for an interview and say what she is going to do. It's the same old bs, cut taxes, boost education, "cut out the fat," make government more efficient by drastically cutting spending, blah, blah, blah. Problem is it doesn't add up ever and people want their services that the government provides, like education, police, fire and rescue, etc., etc. Basically, you can't have your cake and eat it too.

Come on dems, start doing a countdown clock until she sits for an interview with a "real" reporter, at least not fox entertainment.

Been there and done that, and it didn't work then and it won't work now.

Government and business...two mutually exclusive entities that require two mutually exclusive skill sets to operate in...neither of which Ms. Witman seems to either understand or possess.

But the economy certainly appreciates the money she is dumping into her election campaign...which, tbph, is about all the good she will ever do for the state of California.

Is she going to lay off half of the state employees and make the ones left work 3 times as hard and pull 15 hour work days? And tell them they should just be happy they have a job?

Remember one thing about Meg. That is that Meg did not create Ebay. More accurate to say Ebay created Meg. She is not qualified. Power crazy for sure. Beware of rich white people who will stop at nothing and out spend everyone to gain office. We know its not for the money.

Not sure what you mean, Sub. Must be your page. In the upper right of my page is one those stupid Google Nexus One ads. Or maybe you mean the ad for acid reflux. That seems politically appropriate somehow.

Didn't we elect a "businessman" for Governor last time? Wasn't "running California like a business" what Schwarzenegger was supposed to do?

If Meg Whitman is going to break the old business-Republican leadership stranglehold and bring in bold new business-Republican leadership... ... what exactly would be different?

What p*sses me off no end are Republicans who run for Governor of California and act like there are NO DEMOCRATS, or that is no legislature. It is absolutely infuriating!!!!!!!! That's how we got the incompetent Arnold. Save me from Republicans who want to run governments as a business! Governments are NOT businesses, they are governments.

OK nutjobs. You people have a fundamental problem you can't escape. That is the requirement for a balanced budget. California can't print it's own money, and at least one municipality has declared bankruptcy. It's not a matter of insufficient tax money, the tax burden is large enough to drive people out of the state.

Like Greece and it's unrealistic expenditures, Democrats will just spend with no restraint if allowed. The state may default just like a third world country if allowed to continue.

If you think that's OK, just say so. But default has all the unforseen consequences the subprime crisis brought. Like most services going away. But hey, it's your choice.

Before you call us nut jobs you better realize that this state has been under republican rule for the majority of my life (50).Republicans like to spend like crazy when their in office, then turn around and scream about the deficit when they are loosing power. STFu and pay your taxes or go live in another country. The nut jobs would appreciate that very much. We,ll fix it with out you.
