Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI) received a fax today with a drawing of a noose and gallows, labeled "Bart (SS) Stupak."
[RELATED STORY: Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC), who is African-American, received a fax depicting a noose. Click for here full story.]
The fax also a included a printout of a post from a blog called the Collins Report, a screed against Stupak for voting for Health Care Reform. (There is no reason to believe that anyone connected to the Collins Report added the noose and gallows or sent the fax to Stupak's office. The person who runs The Collins Report did not immediately return a request for comment.)
You can see the fax here.
The Collins Report post also calls for sending 30 dimes to Stupak's office, representative of the 30 silver coins that, in the Bible, Judas was paid to betray Jesus.
Now it's our turn to "slip a little something" to this sticky fingered Judas.Since he'll now be in a tough re-election fight he'll need donations. I will be sending him my contribution of thirty dimes which will serve as the 30 pieces of silver his model settled for ...
Although there is no evidence the incidents are connected, similar calls for readers to send Stupak bags of fake silver coins have gone out elsewhere on the internet.
A spokeswoman for Stupak confirmed that they received the fax and have also had "many, many callers about the 30 pieces of silver and calling the congressman Judas." She also said the congressman is "not fazed" by the threats.
In addition to the blog post and the noose, the fax also has the line, "All baby killers come to unseemly ends Either by the hand of man or the Hand of God," the word "Achtung" and the symbol of the Nazi secret police.
Late update: TPMDC's Evan McMorris-Santoro talks to Collins, whose blog much of the fax is copied from. Collins says he didn't send the fax.

A fax is a phone call. I should think the FBI can trace all threatening calls/faxes that came into a congressman's office. Let's hope so. These vermin should be exposed to the light of day.

NSA doubtless has all the data, but there are many self-service fax services available from places like FedEx/Kinko's so that knowing where it came from may be a dead end. On the other hand, these people are so stupid that they may have sent it from their own phone.

If from FedEX/Kinko's or others, I hope there were security cameras that caught them. This is outrageous.

Knowing it came from a particular fedex can say a lot by itself. Ever used one of the fedex fax machines? Ariund here at least they're self service and you normally pay with a credit card...

Easy, all the threats to Sarah Palin the most hated conservative in the country.
And there STILL isn't any video of spitting, N****R, or F****T even as it was the most recorded walk of House members EVER. This is just another example of the MSM liberal bias.

See the problem is you wingnuts project your outrageous conduct on others. People on the "left" just don't do those types of things no matter how much you would like to ratify your outrageous conduct by claiming that people on the "left" do the same things.

By the way, are you claiming that the capitol police who arrested the person who spat on the congressman were part of the great left-wing conspiracy as well? The guy was arrested and the congressman told the arresting officers that he was not going to press charges. But that was a left-wing conspiracy. As we all know cops are flaming libs.

Check the send line - manipulated to "Defecating on Stupak" - this was some business or person's private fax, which should make it eminently traceable.

Really, what do you expect? Mix almost forty years of escalating eliminationist rhetoric with the kind of frenzied religious fanaticism that powered a century of atrocity and slaugher during the Hundred Years War, throw in a dash of the moral imperative that attaches itself to the word "murder" and "babykiller!" and this is inevitably what you get.
Part of me is feeling some sympathy for Stupak. The other part is hoping that, given that he swam in the same poisoned waters as the people now threatening him for decades, he gets a little bit of a sense out of how it feels to be on the receiving end of the threats and epithets.
Goddamn shame he splashed it on Clyburn when he jumped in.

Yep, they are. They believe truly illogical things -- such as life begins at conception. Don't quite know how they do that with dead eggs and dead sperm. At 'conception' you make or may not get a complete set of DNA but it certainly is the beginning of life as such.
Also, those who have been involved in working for choice or protecting clinics and the like know from experience how vicious these people can be. Bart Stupak who had been on their good side had turned a blind eye to that side of them. He was hoping that the late night calls he was getting would end with the HCR vote and getting the Executive Order. Now he is getting a taste of what his allies have been dishing out.
They need to be stopped.

It is now. We lost that for 8 years, but we got our country back, at least when it comes to a nation of laws. Somebody found that damn constitution, with all its flaws and problems, after it got lost during the king's reign. Now we just need some war crime trials and we will be back.

Oh, and bluestate, put a cork in it. Stupak is not someone I agreed with, wish to primary, but did act in what he felt were his held beliefs. Then he acted in a non-inflammatory way when a deal was struck.
You don't have to have a "Stupak crush" to defend him from domestic terror threats. That's defending the law.

Oh please. These tactics are just repeats of the left's during Bush. They don't call it Bush Derangement Syndrome for nothing. Besides, Obama ok'd it...."I want you to argue with them and get in their face".
He asked for it, he got it.

Nope. Untrue. I don't recall any "lefties" faxing pictures of nooses to congress people, cutting gas lines, spitting on congress people, carrying machine guns or semi-automatic glocks to rallies where the president is speaking, threatening armed revolution, congress people calling for armed revolution, etc., etc.
Who is "they"? The repukes playing the victimization card? Yeah, "bush derangement syndrome"? People don't get upset about being spied on? People don't get upset about pols just ignoring the constitution and think they are above the law? People don't get upset about bombing the sh*t out of a country that did nothing to us and killing hundreds of thousands of innocent women and children? People don't get upset about our young men and women going into a meatgrinder based on lies? If that's bush derangement syndrome, then I have a chronic case.
Obama ok'd that statement? I don't recall that one. I do recall him encouraging respectfully debating with people. I do recall campaign workers being confronted with racism and being instructed to turn the other cheek. I don't recall obama calling for armed revolution or killing people or putting targets on them.
You really are confused or you watch too much lush and train wreck.

I might have some sympathy for Stupak if he hadn't previously spent so much time "palling around with terrorists."
I guess you can put this in the category of "no good deed goes unpunished."
This kind of pressure can reveal much about a person. I wonder if privately Stupak is thinking, "Jeez, why did I succumb to that socialist Kenyan and how can I get back into the good graces of the pro-life people again?" or is it "Jesus H. Christ, those pro-life freaks have picked the wrong guy to try to intimidate."
