Family Research Council's Tony Perkins today defended his group's decision to ask donors give to individual candidates instead of to the Republican National Committee given recent problems there.

Speaking on MSNBC this afternoon, Perkins said the RNC -- and its spending and the flap over a staffer expensing a trip to a bondage-themed nightclub -- is "tone deaf" to social conservatives.

"The RNC is indifferent at best to the concerns of many social conservatives. The RNC does not reflect the values of the folks we represent across the country," Perkins said.

Watch:

Democrats have been challenging the National Republican Congressional Committee on an old visit Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX) made to a burlesque club. I've called FRC to ask if they'll also encourage their members not to donate to the NRCC given that incident. We'll update if they get back to us.

Again, I have to ask: is Michael Steele any worse than Michele Bachmann or Sarah Parlin?

If he isn't, one is forced to wonder why Republicans cringe at Steele's crazy statements yet defend equally untenable statements by other GOP lunatics. Hmmmmmmm.

That should be Palin rather than "Parlin."

Actually, I kinda prefer "Parlin." With an added apostrophe (parlin') it could be an all-purpose Alaskan gerund.

"Whatcha doin'?"

"Nothin'. Just parlin'."

That's an outrageous, baseless attack. Mr. Steele is a credit to the Muppet race. Democrats wholeheartedly support his continued stimulus package to Stewart and Colbert. Fire Mr. Steele and the terrorists win.

Why limit it his/the RNC being "tone deaf" to "social conservatives" when it's obvious they are tone deaf to reality itself.

Tony Perkins On Steele's RNC: 'If You Can't Run A Party, You Can't Run A Country'

Duh. You proved that beyond a reasonable doubt over the eight years previous to the Obama administration.

Is Tony Perkins Marlin's son? Just askin'.

You know, that dopey expression on Perkins' face sort of reminds me of a young George Bush. Perkins would probably take that as a compliment.

Steele's comeback regarding the expenditures at a Hollywood bondage club was classic ... "Ain't no party like a West Coast Party."

It's that damned Liberal Hollowood crowd trying to give the Republican't Party a black eye by exposing the Party for what it actually is.

"Family Research Council": Trying to figure out what a "family" is without asking Charles Manson.

I'm encouraging Steele to have a few drinks and then tweet some responses to Perkins and his other unpatriotic critics. Brownbag is correct: Steele needs to keep his enemies at bay lest the terrorists win.

Seriously. If I see Steele at the club, I'll definitely send some vodka-redbull his way. Nothing like a little drunk dialing from to brighten my day.

Can you say that the Family Research Council is not just tone-deaf, but completely and utterly deaf, because it took them over a decade to find out that the GOP only pays lip service to "family values"? Apparently they were so deaf that they didn't hear about Mark Foley chasing children and the cover-up of that which involved most of the Republican House leadership. Or Mark Sanford Argentinian mistress? John McCain Florida fundraiser and State Rep trying to pay an undercover cop for oral sex? etc, etc, etc.

But Tony, not being able to run a country doesn't disqualify you from getting a Pres or VP nomination from the Reep party!
