After a heated race against Rep. Joe Sestak (D-PA), Sen. Arlen Specter (D-PA) conceded defeat tonight in the Democratic Pennsylvania Senate primary.
In his concession speech, Specter said that “it’s been a great privilege” to serve Pennsylvania, and said he looks forward to continuing to serve his state in the coming months.
He also thanked President Obama and Vice President Biden for their support.
In a tweet, Specter said to his opponent:
Congratulations, Congressman Sestak. You have my support for the general election.
