You may have to wait until it's really hot outside before Sharron Angle takes questions from the media about her controversial record. Tonight, several hours after she zigzagged her way through the Senate to avoid questions from the press, a handful of reporters asked NRSC Chairman John Cornyn to explain.
His response: We probably won't be hearing anything from her for weeks.
Cornyn echoed several of his previous statements suggesting Angle isn't quite prepared to face the media, and will be fairly sequestered, at least until she has a full staff of campaign veterans running the show for her.
"You're going to have complete 100 percent access to her, but I think it just makes sense, at some point that I think she needs to get staffed up and prepared," Cornyn said. "I don't think anybody would be prepared for a race like this where 20 or 30 million dollars is going to be spent in negative advertising."
I asked when he expected she'd be able to face a group of reporters without feeling the need to give 'em the slip. "I don't know, I mean I just think it's going to take a few weeks...but you know it's really up to her," Cornyn replied. "With all due respect to the Washington press corps the people she's gotta impress are the voters back in Nevada." (Angle has also been dodging the Nevada press corps.)
So there you have it. Angle will get to decide if and when she takes questions from the press, but it won't be until well into summer.

It doesn't matter if it's hotter than July. Angle has already shown her true colors and it is crazy.
Such hypocrites. If they believe the bullshit the spouse, then stand up and say it again when it counts.
If she's not ready for the press, she sure as hell is not ready to govern!

Seconded. I hate it when politicians have radical views that they've expressed in the past, but when it's time to stand behind them, they lose their spine.

It will take some real undoing for her to walk back from her treatment advice using Scientology. Most Republians could tolerate an athiest easier than they can a Scientologist. Of course, she has other problems that will give voters fits. You know all those retirees in Nevada who depend on their Social Security that she is out to abolish. Of course, depending on her audience, she even buckles on that one. I guess it will take her some time to figure out the best "electable" baloney! And even that she will change if the wind blows the wrong way.

Consider Cornyn's answer, she is not ready to meet with the (press) media.
She was "interviewed" on Fox yesterday, so isn't he by extension confirming what many suspect, Fox has nothing to do with generic MEDIA?

In another TPM article that apparently doesn't have a comment thread, Angle says, "What is a little bit disconcerting and concerning is the inability for sporting goods stores to keep ammunition in stock. That tells me the nation is arming. What are they arming for if it isn't that they are so distrustful of their government? They're afraid they'll have to fight for their liberty in more Second Amendment kinds of ways? . . . That's why I look at this as almost an imperative. If we don't win at the ballot box, what will be the next step?" (Emphasis added)
OK, media -- do your job and ask her this: "Do you mean that if more people vote for Harry Reid than vote for you, you and your supporters will take up arms?"

Reid should make this into an ad "Where's Sharron?", and then quote Cornyn saying she's not ready or prepared yet. Then he can pull out a few of her more ridiculous quotes and say "You can't hide from these statements, no matter how much coaching the Republicans are giving you.".

harry is the mouse that roars. think what he has managed to shepard thru the most pathetically divided senate in decades. okay so the legislation isn't ideal, but that's politics. better 50% of something than 100% of squat. plus every DEM victory forces the repulikkklan into a corner making them spout increasingly insane delusional extremist crap, in other words they write the DEMS 2010 midterm ads for them! and since this obviously racist, extremist bat shit crazy c**t is his opponent i like his chances in november. he will lay low-ish not stir up too much controversy (look for slo bill-movement in the senate anyway)and hope this hateful asswipe of an opponent crucifies herself. all he has to do is pound in the last nail.

No one gets elected by the right or left, at least so far. Every politician must come back to the center. This wacko has taken very extreme positions which appeal to the far right not to the center. Hell, some of her positions don't even appeal to the right. The longer she hides from the press (I don't consider Fox a member of the press) the easier it is for Reid to define her. All Reid has to do is put her interviews/statements out there for the Nevada electorate to digest. Letting your opponent define you is not a winning strategy. Republican leadership knows that. My guess is they have no other choice. Otherwise, she'll self destruct.

It was the late Richard Nixon who introduced campaign events packed entirely with sympathetic attendees. Of course the GOP went on to perfect that technique, finally arriving at Bush Jrs. events where even the hand-drawn signs were fake. So it isn't much of a leap for them to put forward candidates about whom they want nothing known, and for whom they will go to great lengths to make sure that nothing is known.
