Pelosi: We Can Stop Blaming Bush ‘When The Problems Go Away’ (VIDEO)

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)

In an interview on MSNBC this morning, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi mentioned that the root of the financial crisis lies in the policies of the Bush administration.

So, reporter Chuck Todd asked whether voters would tire of hearing Pelosi and her party blame today’s problems on the last president.

“When do you feel like that runs out with the public?” Todd asked.

“It runs out when the problems go away,” Pelosi said.

President George W. Bush, she said, “brought us to the brink of financial crisis. He brought us to the bring of deep recession, ignoring issues related to climate change.”

Todd asked whether she would make “what happened then” an issue in November.

“It continues to happen now,” she said, referring to Republican filibusters of health care reform and financial reform.

“Republicans said no. We didn’t get a single vote from the Republican in the House on the Wall Street reform legislation … so it’s a continuation of those Bush policies in the Congress, but they have their roots, and the problems were caused during, the Bush administration,” she said.
