Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), the chair of the new House Tea Party Caucus, seems to be sitting on the fence over whether President Obama should be impeached. Instead, she's saying that those questions are up to Congress to determine.
In an interview with NewsMax, Bachmann was asked about former Colorado Rep. Tom Tancredo's (Republican/Constitution) statements that Obama should be impeached for allegedly refusing to secure the border in order to force an immigration reform package. Bachmann -- who has said that subpoenaing and investigating the Obama administration is "all we should do" if Republicans gain control of Congress -- didn't quite give a definite answer.
"When it comes to the issue of securing our borders, again it seems to have a political basis rather than a basis that is grounded in what is good for America, our economy, and the safety and health of the American people," said Bachmann. "Whether or not this is an impeachable offense is one that the Congress would have to make a determination on. But I think clearly the president isn't acting out of the best interests of what would be good for people's safety and good for our economy."
The key moment comes at the 6:15 mark:

if Ms Bachmann is a spokesman for the tea party, that I think you can see what their agenda will be if they make any inroads into Congress during elections.
All you'll see is gridlock, nothing being done for the American people, there will be no going back to the Constitution as they quoted it, and the United States will take a step back into the past for the tea party wants us by their own inaction.
does anyone wonder where Ms. Bachmann was when George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and the other George W. Bush was when the borders were not being strengthened are protected? Why is it only now that that is a complaint worthy of impeachment? isn't the mass murder of almost 4000 of our own soldiers by in a upper management in the White House an impeachable complaint?
I would like to know if Ms. Bachmann ever is in the Congress representing her people. I would like to know how she keeps her job

Getting soldiers killed probably isn't impeachable - it is sort of the CiC's job.
Torturing prisoners and blatantly ignoring FISA to wiretap people, on the other hand, seem like they should have been impeachable.

It worked so well for them the last time. They lost ground in Congress and needed the Supreme Court's thumb on the scale to get Commander Codpiece in.

Very true. Of course, you could also argue that the impeachment, and the Clinton scandal(s) that led to it, made Al Gore reluctant to embrace Clinton successes and gave Bush 2 a line of attack.
Yes, I know about the Supreme Court's shenanigans. But how did Gore lose his home state - a state that Clinton won twice and that twice elected Gore to the Senate with 60+% of the vote?

Tom DeLay personally rammed impeachment through to benefit the GOP. Clinton had been ready to make a deal, whereby he stood in the well of the House and was reprimanded by Congress. DeLay opposed this face-saving measure, because he thought that even an unsuccessful impeachment would help Repugs. Remember: Party First for most GOPers. Well they didn't win the popular vote in 2000-and probably didn't win Florida either. But yeah, Gore certainly lost his home state. So maybe DeLay's plan worked after all.

Oh please shout this as loud as you can Mrs. Bachmann.
Add to the list of things to say to voters: "If Republicans gain control - nothing will get done - they will spend their time trying to impeach Obama. We have already seen what that does to productivity in Congress."
Despite what these morons think in their little isolated bubbles - Obama is popular. Are some of his views and programs slightly under water? Of course. But the MAN is popular. You wan't to run on impeachment - knock yourself out. Morons.

Let's not forget the Clinton years. The bar was set low for impeachable offenses by Republicans back then, and they'll drop it lower if they get a chance.
If the House goes Republican, Obama will be impeached. All it takes is a simple majority.

And where are all those Democrats who said the last Congress shouldn't impeach Bush because that would just make the next Democratic president a target for similar treatment? Now we could get the same treatment for Obama without having the benefit of seeing Bush impeached. So much for appeasement.
The Republicans are so bankrupt of ideas that *every* Democratic president from now on will have impeachment threats thrown at him or her. To paraphrase a ridiculous RNC chairman, "'Cuz that's how they roll, baby!"

Hah! Yeah. I got regularly scolded on another board for pushing for impeachment hearings on Bush. I knew they weren't going to have the votes for it in the long run, but I wanted the truth brought out for all to see.

by that logic, all the republicans that pulled the rug out from under bush when he had a comprehensive immigration plan. Maybe those republicans should be impeached. That was one of the few things Bush actually had done right during his 8 years. But his own party torpedoed the bill to protect the farmers and business owners that need/want cheap ass labor.
Maybe Michelle should actually read up before opening her pie hole. She's a joke.
