The morning after his primary victory over Andrew Romanoff, Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO) is saying President Obama’s highly-visible support didn’t play a big role in the outcome, and may not play a big role in the general election.

On the Today show, Bennet was asked about Obama’s impact.

“You know, I’m very pleased to have had his support, but I don’t think it made the difference in the primary and won’t make the difference in the general,” he said.

Asked how he would he describe Obama’s usefulness to his campaign, Bennet sounded a similar note.

“I certainly wouldn’t describe it as a hindrance and I also don’t think it made the difference,” he said. “I don’t think it was material to most primary voters.”

Then, on Good Morning America, Bennet was asked if he wanted Obama to come to Colorado to campaign for him in the fall.

“We’ll have to see, we’ll obviously do what’s right for the campaign,” Bennet said. “He’s been a huge help, and I obviously appreciate his endorsement.”

“We’ll have to give it some thought,” he added.
