Former Bush and Reagan adviser Ken Adelman said today that he fully supports the planned construction of the Cordoba House Islamic center near Ground Zero, and is "a little disappointed" that former President George W. Bush hasn't come out in support of it as well.
Speaking on WNYC's The Brian Lehrer Show, Adelman said that he thinks "the United States should stick with its values of tolerance and understanding and support for moderate Islamic leaders."
He added: "And I'm a little disappointed in President Bush, while we're taking about him, that he hasn't come out."

I agree.
But I don't agree Pres. Bush should support the Cordoba House project until it starts seeking answers for the 9/11 attack within Islam itself instead of looking outside of itself for answers.

Wow, do you get extra rhetorical points for posting the same thing more than once? example
I'm still unclear on how pointing out how America isn't really the "shining city on the hill" and/or highlighting very real factors and perceptions that helped al Qaeda recruit suckers make Imam Rauf some kind of diabolical source of evil. The reply to this question in the previous thread didn't really explain it either: are we going to expect LDS members to "refudiate" their well-documented practices of shunning ex-members? Should we require megachurch preachers to "refudiate" the offshoots of their religion that have adopted white-supremacist and openly anti-government policies?

That all depends on your own perceptions, sir. If you believe, as Rauf seems to believe, that the 9/11 terrorists were motivated by some real or imagined misdeed by the United States or by their own warped religious beliefs. When I stand back and look at the entire expanse of Islamic thought, history and religious practises, particularly where Wahhabism is concerned, I tend to believe its more of the latter than the former.

Right; defusing the "mosque" issue is only one way Bush could embarrass the Republican party. His appearance would also remind everybody that most of our problems right now were created by Bush and allowed to fester into national threats under Bush. Bush was about $7 trillion dollars wrong; two wars on the credit card, a drug-company and insurance company handout in the form of a medicare drug plan and a big tax cut for the rich that weren't paid for, regulations not enforced to the point that Wall Street stole half of everyone' 401Ks.
Bush was dead wrong on just about everything, but he's right about the mosque.

Shouldn't OBAMA publicly support the project? He's the president now, not Bush.

True that. But as the Decider, you must decide soon whether you are for or against the Cordoba House. If you continue to avoid making a decision, you must re-classify/re-name yourself to "The Un-Decided".

Pigs will fly before Shrub denounces the family tradition of racist, divisive smears.
Willie Horton, John McCain love child, gay marriage, etc.
This is the playbook Bushco wrote.

davis13 - what you said wasn't a joke it is absolutely true
Bush's book is slated to hit stores on Nov. 9, one week after Election Day
(it was pushed back from September because Republicans were rightly afraid that
"He-Who-Must-Not -Be-Named" would kill their mid term chances
So of course during Bush's book tour he will say that the Cordoba House should be built

Bush should bring his idiotic a$$ out and voice his support for the CORDOBA HOUSE, especially since he has so much concern for the Muslim's freedom. He cared so much for the Muslim's freedom that he invaded their country, killed their leader, and left the country without electricity, etc. Really, if you think about it, all of the GOP should support the CORDOBA HOUSE; after all, they were all concerned the Muslims' freedom. A disgrace that GOP group, a disgrace to America!

I had to read that line twice. It might be fun for people who like to quote other people out of context.
