File under "Where this is headed."
Democrats are pretty clearly going to lose some seats in November. And, if this Fox News clip last night is any indication, Republicans will use that defeat to press Obama to abandon what remains of the stimulus bill itself and other job-creating strategies.
Here's what Karl Rove told Greta van Susteren last night: "there needs to be an event that causes -- that gives them, gives them the excuse, gives them the opportunity, whatever verb or noun you want to attach to it, to shift gears. And that moment's coming. It's in 60-some-odd days. It's called the November election."
Republicans are also pushing to make the Bush tax cuts permanent, at a cost to the deficit of about $700 billion, and to repeal or stymie health care reform as far as they're able.
You can see the Rove exchange below:

I sincerly how that all these jack-offs are proven wrong and disappear after they get put in their places in this election cycle. They have given the dems the ammo. Rove only knows how to run dirty political campaigns. He knows nothing about how a country runs. We have a lot of evidence to prove that. So, why listen to his opinion on economic matters, you might as well be listening the your car mechanic.

No, I'm pretty sure you'd be *better* off listening to your car mechanic; his job doesn't depend on dumping the country in the shitter for the benefit of a wealthy few. He'd probably also be able to correctly identify that the problem facing the economy is weak demand (rather than the impending expiration of tax cuts for the rich).

No, file this under "Why is this news?"
The banner on the front page says "Rove thinks Obama will abandon stimulus". On the article it says "Rove: Obama should...end stimulus". An important difference in itself, considering that they've been saying the latter since before the stimulus was passed. But then there's also the question of why bother reporting it at all, since it's coming from Rove.

They are hoping for 1994 all over again, with a cowering Clinton kowtowing to nearly every repug "value" for the next 2 to 6 years.
If that happens, then this country is in big trouble, because the repug wins will be from an even crazier batch than the gingrich ones from the 90s, and this country will have taken a very scary step that I have to admit reminds me of what I've read of about 1930s germany. We'll have anti-Muslim/xenophobic/homophobic kristallnachts and reichstag fires.
I think we are at a turning point in this country: either the repugs become increasingly irrelevant naturally as the country's demographics evolve OR The Crazies TM (we laugh now) become scary enough to keep a majority silent as they rampage and seize power by the most undemocratic means, following up with more terror, outlawing reproductive choice, and on an on. Anyone read or see The Handmaid's Tale?

After the election, no matter the outcome, we can count on the republicans to keep up relentless pressure to sabotage the economy: ending stimulus, cutting programs, "shrinking government", gutting the safety net and doing their best to defeat any initiative that could be construed as a victory for Obama or the dems. They will lie, fabricate, manipulate, and distract; their potent message machine the primary tool for their dirty work.
Without care for people, the future, the environment or their own grandchildren they will do everything they possibly can to regain personal and political power.

The donkeys/jackasses (Democrats) temporarily in power HAVE demonstrated the truth of your father's statement. Except it is not just a barn that is being torn down....it's the whole country. That is why Dems are in for a major ass whuppin' in November. Dismiss it if it makes you feel better, but reality has a way of getting the last word over fantasy and wishful thinking. That is why you guys HATE Rove. He is an astute political observer and tactitian who is grounded in reality. He may not be right all the time, but don't be so quick to dismiss his analysis.

What is to be "disheartened" about? The f-ing party of NO has done everything in their power to stop any progress in this country. Before Obama and the Democrats took over we had 8 years of stagnation, and the undoing of past progress. Problems grew but there was no effort to deal with them. Obama saved the auto industry, got us healteh care reform, and banking reform, and kept us out of Great Depression II. Pretty good stuff. Now we have to get everyone out to vote and keep it rolling. In November I am taking people to the polls with me.

Exactly! Don't just vote, Give $$$ to the DNC, the DSCC, the DCCC and/or the candidates of your choice. Most of what Obama has done won't have enough of an effect until next year or the year after. The Republicans want to control Congress so they can take credit for the improvement in the economy that THEY know is comming. If they don't have a majority in either house next year they get NOTHING! That's why they are so desperate.

Plus, most of the stimulus that's left is already spoken for: funding the middle class tax break. So basically he's using the GOP meme that wants to remove the middle class tax break (thus raising the middle class's taxes) to fund whatever is the latest GOP talking point.
While the Democrats will loose some seats, it will not be as much as the GOP is hedging for, nor will it be as bad as they will claim.

Or... if the R's do take over congress, use the leverage of them having to govern to implement the Democratic tax plan that would extend the tax cuts for families making under 250 000$ a year.
Either way, the Republicans will have to govern and it will be THEIR asses on the line.
I'm going to say something very unpopular, but after:
- The Iraq drawdown
- Healthcare reform
- Financial Reform
- SCHIP expansion
- Lilly Ledbetter Act
- The Stimulus
- Pulling us out of the abyss of a second Great Depression
You can have congress Repubs. Honestly, I've been so sick of they're psychotic opposition to Teh Obama that I'll be glad to finally see them try to govern. Haha, let's see what you got you bastards!

Thanks to John Corn holes terrible leadership.
The Dem candidate was an Alaska fisherman on a commercial boat - and runs a balanced budget as mayor.
That is more then can be said for John Cornholes time in the republican senate which ran up deficits for eight years by brown nosing rich lobbyists with the aid of who else - another
Republican family values divorcee - Karl Rove.

I am hardly a liberal. I support conceal and carry, state's rights, am opposed to all forms of torture... you know, positions that used to be the norm in the GOP.
I have voted Republican many times in the past but I can make up for that mistake. I hate the racist bs, the religious manipulation and the total unfettered greed promoted by the GOP.
There is nothing worth saving in the Republican party. You asshats have made a lifetime political enemy out of me with your culture war crap. But torture... the embracing of war crimes, is the main thing I hate about the GOP.
