The business group MN Forward has a new ad in the Minnesota gubernatorial race — depicting small children getting frightened by Democratic nominee Mark Dayton’s tax proposals.
“Feel surprised? A bit frustrated? Scared?” the announcer says, accompanied by videos of scared children. “That’s how Minnesotans feel when they hear Mark Dayton’s bad ideas.”
As the Star Tribune points out, some claims in the ad — such as saying that Dayton supported a tax on email — are not totally accurate.
MN Forward is the business group supporting Republican nominee Tom Emmer, which was controversially funded in part by the Target corporation — which led the company’s CEO to apologize due to a backlash in this liberal state over Emmer’s religious right stances on gay rights.
The TPM Poll Average gives Dayton the lead with 40.4%, followed by Emmer at 33.9%, and Independence Party candidate Tom Horner with 10.9%.
