Illinois Senate nominee Alexi Giannoulias (D) is coming out strongly against extending the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy, launching a website today dedicated to opposing them, Greg Sargent reports.
As Sargent points out, several Democratic candidates favor keeping all the tax cuts. But not Giannoulias. The new site argues:
Congress is debating whether to doll out another $700 billion in tax breaks for the wealthiest 2% of Americans. Instead of paying down the debt, creating jobs or investing in our education system, this money would simply line the pockets of a select few
Giannoulias campaign did not immediately respond to request for comment.
The TPM Poll Average for this race shows Republican Mark Kirk leading Giannoulias 41.3%-40.0%.
