Axelrod: Corporate Spending On Election ‘A Threat To Our Democracy’
Appearing on Face The Nation, White House Senior Adviser David Axelrod continued to blast corporate spending in the current election season, including the charge made by Democrats that spending has included money from foreign sources. “This issue of this special interest spending is very important,” said Axelrod. “It’s never happened before that organizations are spending this kind of money. And the American people need to ask, ‘Why is the oil industry, Wall Street and others spending this kind of money to defeat candidates and elect others in this sort of secretive way?’ You know, that is a threat to our democracy.”

Rove: Obama Has ‘Enemies List Unrestrained By Any Facts Or Evidence’
Appearing on Fox News Sunday, Karl Rove hit back at accusations from the White House and Democrats his group American Crossroads, and other conservative groups, are receiving foreign money. “They have not one shred of evidence to back up that baseless lie. This is a desperate and I think disturbing trend by the president of the United States to tar his political adversaries with some kind of, you know, enemies list unrestrained by any facts or evidence whatsoever.”

McCarthy: GOP Not Seeking Blue Dog Party-Switchers
Appearing on State of the Union, Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) denied reports that Republicans would be seeking to recruit conservative Democrats to switch parties after the election. “I’ve always heard those rumors, but I don’t see that being the case,” said McCarthy. “And it’s - it’s a little more difficult when you look at the Democratic make-up of Congress today. It’s much more liberal than it’s ever been.”

Musharraf: ‘I Take Very Strong Exception’ To Criticism Of Pakistan’s Performance
Appearing on This Week, former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf struck back at criticism that his country had not done enough in the fight against Al Qaida: “I take very strong exception to these statements which have been going on maybe since 2004 because of a misunderstanding of ground realities and which I used to be saying, after defeating the Taliban after 9/11, I always was of the view that we need to change strategy, we need to go in for deals. So my strategy always was to strike a deal, strike a deal to win away Pashtun (ph) from the Taliban. This is, in my view, are vindicated now when everyone is talking of going into some political agreements with moderate Taliban. Now, how is it different from what I was saying and try to do from 2004 onward?”

McMahon: ‘I’m Happy With The Content Today’ On WWE
Appearing on This Week, Linda McMahon responded to questions about past content on World Wrestling Entertainment, where she was CEO, which has bee criticized as being demeaning to women: “Well, WWE programming has changed from being TV-14 over the years, which — that’s the time you were talking about. It was called the Attitude Era — into now being PG, rated by the networks as PG. I’m happy with the content today.”

Blumenthal: ‘I Am Sorry That I Inaccurately Described My Military Record’
Appearing on This Week, Richard Blumenthal responded again to criticism over his past misstatements about having served in Vietnam, which were the subject of a recent attack ad from Linda McMahon: “I have answered the question about Vietnam saying that I am sorry that I inaccurately described my military record. I’m proud of having served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. And I think the voters of Connecticut are concerned about the real issues, and I believe that those are the issues that will be center in the election. My opponent may have more money, but I’ve got 20 years’ worth of friends.”
