A new Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee poll of the Illinois Senate race shows Democrat Alexi Giannoulias leading Republican Rep. Mark Kirk 41%-39% in a head-to-head match-up, with 19% of likely voters still undecided.
When when the poll included Green Party candidate LeAlan Jones (7%) and Libertarian candidate Michael Labno (4%), Giannoulias (38%) still maintained a two-point lead over Kirk (36%), with 16% undecided.
Additionally, the DSCC poll found that 58% of likely voters in Illinois have a favorable or somewhat favorable opinion of President Obama.
The Kirk campaign did not immediately respond to TPM’s call for comment.
The TPM Poll Average for this race shows Giannoulias (42.4%) leading Kirk (41.8%) in a head-to-head match-up. In a four-way contest, Giannoulias (40.4%) leads Kirk (39.7%), Jones (5.0%) and Labno (3.6%).
