Kentucky got a visit from MSNBC’s Chris Matthews today — just in time for the irascible host to grill the Democratic Senate nominee over his new attacks on Republican opponent Rand Paul’s college career.
Matthews picked up on Paul’s line of defense against Conway today, asking Conway why he’s insinuating that Paul is not a Christian.
“I’m not questioning his faith,” Conway told Matthews. “I’m questioning his actions.”
Matthews also went after Conway for using the Aqua Buddha story in his recent attack ad. Matthews pointed out that the story comes from an anonymous source and characterized the tale as possibly “one of these weird college hazing things.”
Conway stood his ground. “In any number of instances, I don’t think he’s told the truth,” the Democrat said, referring to Paul’s refusal to discuss the Aqua Buddha tale.
Watch:
The TPM Poll Average shows Paul leading Conway 46.9-41.7.
