A new Chicago Tribune/WGN poll of the Illinois Senate race shows a still-close contest, but the numbers show a five-point swing in favor of Republican Rep. Mark Kirk since the last Tribune poll.
The new poll shows Kirk leading Democrat Alexi Giannoulias 44%-41%, with 7% of voters still undecided. Fiver percent supported Green Party candidate LeAlan Jones, while 4% backed Libertarian Mike Labno.
In the last Tribune poll, in September, found Giannoulias ahead of Kirk 38%-36%, with 17% of voters undecided.
The TPM Poll Average of the four-way race shows Giannoulias (41.4) leading Kirk (41.3), Jones (4.0) and Labno (3.3).
