Of course Rick Santorum has gay friends, and he loves them! They’re awesome!
Or so he told CNN’s Don Lemon in an interview earlier this week, after Lemon asked: “Do you have any gay friends?”
“Yes, in fact I was with a gay friend of mine just 2 days ago,” Santorum said. “So, yeah, I do. And they respect that I have differences of opinion on that. I talk about these things in front of them, and we have conversations about it. They differ from me, but they know that I love them because they’re my friends.”

And here’s more from the interview:
Santorum’s a known opponent of gay marriage, and has been dealing with the sticky consequences of his 2003 comments comparing sex between gay people to polygamy and incest (if you’re not familiar with this particular meme, a Google search of Rick Santorum will turn up blogger Dan Savage’s new, rather graphic definition for the name).
