Obama Gets Sarcastic About Debt Ceiling Fight (VIDEO)

President Barack Obama

COLLEGE PARK, MD — President Obama revelled in being just a few miles from the DC border at a town hall meeting at the University of Maryland here Friday. Opening the hour-long chat with students and other voters, the president made a sarcastic joke about the several weeks he’s spent trying to hammer out a deal on the debt ceiling with Republicans.

“I have to say, it’s nice to get out of Washington,” Obama said, as the crowd in this Capital suburb laughed. Then came more sarcasm.

“Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing I enjoy more than sitting hour after hour, day after day debating the fine points of the federal budget with members of Congress,” Obama said, laughing. “But after a while you do start to feel a little cooped up.”
