Numerous conservatives have slammed Occupy Wall Street for protesting the “wrong” people. Rather than the bankers who ran the global economy into the ground during the Bush era, it’s the current White House that deserves the people’s ire, they say.
However, conservative activist Cliff Kincaid has a new target for populist outrage: Democratic-leaning financier George Soros… and he’s got the kooky conspiracy theory diagrams to prove it!
Talking at DC’s National Press Club on Thursday, Kincaid spoke of “the good Wall Street and the bad Wall Street.”
“Soros is the bad Wall Street,” he said. “But what’s interesting is that the Occupy Wall Street movement hasn’t been targeting him. Well, that’s interesting. That’s a fascinating development.”
Kincaid is a leading member of the group behind TheSorosFiles.com, a Web site aimed at delegitimizing Soros by posting files relating to his political contributions and personal life. The site is sponsored by America’s Survival, Inc.
Kincaid broadened his attacks on Soros to include accusations that the wealthy philanthropist intended to levy a global tax on financial transactions.
“We’ve got chapter and verse,” he said. “We’ve got the hardcore documentation about how a global tax […] has been the ultimate objective that will generate not only more money for, I guess, more stimulus plans here at home, but for international financial institutions and international agencies like the UN itself, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and so on and so forth.”

Kincaid had some bones to pick with the OWS crowd beyond the fact that they weren’t targeting Glenn Beck’s bete-noire. He said they were “illegal” and thought the authorities were hypocritically treating them differently from - say - tea partiers.
“They don’t have legitimate permits,” Kincaid said, to nods and murmurs of approval from the audience. “Not only that, but under federal law — er, city law — it is illegal for protesters, whoever you are, to set up tents, to set up food processing and cooking facilities. It’s blatantly illegal, but the authorities under political pressure at the federal and local level have decided to look the other way and let it continue.”
Kincaid grew visibly agitated as the crowd warmed to his message.
“You think your Tea Party groups would be able to get away with that?” he said, his voice rising. “I don’t think they’d last one minute!” Other audience members chimed in, “One hour!”
Closing his argument with a picture of himself shaking hands with President Ronald Reagan, Kincaid mourned the passing of the former president’s leadership.
“This is one of my favorite pictures, with a great president,” he said. “But — he’s gone. He’s gone, and now we’ve got a different kind of president, don’t we?”
