Jon Stewart Roasts Obnoxious Cable News Show

Jon Stewart

Jon Stewart rarely has nice things to say about cable news hosts. But CNN sort of had this coming. Taking a break from the 2012 presidential race Tuesday, Stewart homed in on “Early Start,” a 5 a.m. news show that specializes in cold calling people in the early morning hours.

In one segment, hosts Ashleigh Banfield and Zoraida Sambolin woke up Kerry Kennedy just to chat and ask if she has any “haunting” memories of her fathers campaign. Good morning!

In another, they tried calling comedian Chuck Nice, a guest Stewart approved of. At least there are no family assassinations involved. But the CNN hosts called the wrong person — and then told him it was the FBI.

“CNN, why don’t you stick to what you do best?” Stewart said. “As soon as we figure that out, we’ll let you know what it is.”
