No Republican tweets better than 78-year-old “cyber punk” Senator Chuck Grassley, Stephen Colbert said Tuesday. Case in point, Grassley’s tough tweet over the weekend: “Constituents askd why i am not outraged at PresO attack on supreme court independence. Bcause Am ppl r not stupid as this x prof of con law.”
“Tough talk? Sure,” Colbert said. “Tough to understand? Oh yeah. But I believe Grassley’s just proving he’s a fiscal conservative by refusing to buy a vowel.”
Intrigued, Colbert pored over Grassley’s entire feed, finding such gems and “P” and “3.” “This isn’t just tweeting,” Colbert said. “This is avant-garde, stream of consciousness poetry.”
So Colbert tried a Grassley-esque tweet of his own: “i m so xitEd 2 twt l1ke mY hero gr asslee u ess A!!! you ez Ey!! #IGotTheTweetsLikeGrassley.”
