Colbert: ‘Senate Would Be Perfect’ Since I Can’t Work Another Full-Time Gig

Stephen Colbert

Stephen Colbert on Monday responded to the Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling survey that showed the late-night comedy host as the most popular choice to replace outgoing Sen. Jim DeMint in South Carolina.

“They love me in the Palmetto State because I love it,” Colbert said.

Twenty percent of respondents picked Colbert, according to the poll. “Twenty percent, that’s like half,” Colbert said. “Now my network contract prohibits me from taking on another full-time job, so the Senate would be perfect.”
