Jon Stewart on Tuesday reacted to Lance Armstrong’s fall from grace. The disgraced cyclist reportedly told Oprah Winfrey in an interview set to air on Thursday that he used performance-enhancing drugs during his long career.
“I believed in you, Lance Armstrong!” Stewart said. “I shelled out a dollar for a rubber bracelet that I have somewhere in my house. For you!”
In hindsight, Stewart said, it seems obvious that Armstrong was doping. “Any idiot with half a brain should have been able to see Armstrong was lying,” Stewart said, then running a 2006 interview he did with the cyclist.
“Nailed it again,” he said of his interview. “You know what, for as good at interviewing as I am, I would not be surprised if Armstrong was also banging David Petraeus.”
