Jon Stewart on Wednesday went after the Obama administration for releasing documents related to CIA torture under President Bush, but declining to make public information about the government’s current drone strikes.
Stewart showed a clip of former White House adviser David Axelrod in 2009 explaining that the administration released the Bush-era documents because Obama banned the use of enhanced interrogation techniques after taking office.
“Oh, so we don’t mind you knowing about shit we do once we don’t do it anymore,” Stewart said. “We’re happy to share irrelevant information with the public. We told you we were going to be transparent. We just didn’t tell you it was going to be about the last guy’s secrets.”
