One unsuccessful candidate from a recent primary has apparently dealt with her disappointment. Republican MS-01 candidate Angela McGlowan is now officially endorsing GOP nominee Alan Nunnelee, to go up against Blue Dog Democratic Rep. Travis Childers.
McGlowan, a Fox News commentator who came in a distant third place in the June 1 primary, had initially refused to endorse Nunnelee, citing his record as a state senator: "I will vote for Alan, but I will not endorse him, because he's a RINO Republican, and he has raised folks' taxes, and I think he would run amok in Washington, D.C., the same as any other incumbent politician."
In an e-mail to her supporters today, though, McGlowan took the opposite route. "After speaking with Senator Alan Nunnelee, I was reassured that he is committed to protecting the taxpayers of the 1st Congressional District by promoting fiscally responsible policies, if elected to Congress," McGlowan writes. "Because of this, I am extending my endorsement and support to Senator Nunnelee and his campaign to help restore Conservative values in Washington, DC."

Angela McGlowan, a Fox News commentator who sought the Republican nomination to run against Blue Dog Democratic Rep. Travis Childers in Mississippi's First District, came in a very distant third place. State Sen. Alan Nunnelee won with 52%, avoiding a runoff, followed by former Eupora Mayor Henry Ross at 33% and McGlowan with 15%.
The Tupelo Daily Journal reported primary night that McGlowan had this to say about Nunnelee: "Right now it looks like Alan is going to take the nomination. I will vote for Alan, but I will not endorse him, because he's a RINO Republican, and he has raised folks' taxes, and I think he would run amok in Washington, D.C., the same as any other incumbent politician." McGlowan's campaign office has not returned our request for comment, to see if she stands by that statement.

We've been tracking where House Republicans stand on Rep. Paul Ryan's budget "roadmap" and noticed at Republican candidate Angela McGlowan has been talking about it in Mississippi's 1st Congressional district. Last week TPMDC wrote about that snaring the GOP's preferred candidate, state Sen. Alan Nunnelee on camera as he dodged a question about where he stands on the Ryan plan.
McGlowan, a former Fox News commentator, is taking it a step farther. She's challenging Nunnelee to join her in support of privatization. In a release Nunnelee said she was fully embracing Bush's 2005-era plan to "save Social Security."

Support is growing for the Rep. Paul Ryan's plan on Capitol Hill, and he picked up another supporter in Angela McGlowan, a former Fox News analyst and candidate in Mississippi's First Congressional district.
McGlowan backs private Social Security accounts, according to the Commercial Appeal. The newspaper reported last week "McGlowan has been criticized for her suggestion the public should be allowed to invest at least some of the social security money the federal government deducts from paychecks."
