The New Spin: The White House Would Be A Step Down For Sarah Palin

Pop quiz: you're a right-wing commentator looking at a string of polls showing Sarah Palin's poll numbers sinking to new lows even as the weak field of GOP presidential contenders continues to thin out. But a large chunk of your audience would sooner eat glass than hear Palin's chances maligned by one of their own. What do you do?

Here's one answer: claim that Palin is even more powerful outside the White House and that the presidency would be a step down for her.

It's a line gaining some traction among pundits on the right. Take conservative media guru Andrew Breitbart, who suggested in GQ this month that Palin would be truly unstoppable if she only didn't get bogged down by, say, being President.

"I think the presidency is beneath her," Breitbart told GQ. "There's more power in being Oprah Winfrey than in being Barack Obama. It would be my goal for Palin to become Oprah and be the ultimate kingmaker for twenty-odd years. Oprah anointed Barack Obama."

Ann Coulter: 'Radiation is Actually Good For You' (Video)

According to conservative columnist Ann Coulter, this whole Japanese nuclear crisis is overblown and "radiation is actually good for you" and the media isn't reporting its benefits enough.

On The O'Reilly Factor last night, Coulter spoke about her recent column that cites a number of articles in the New York Times and "a stunning number of physicists" showing radiation has a positive effect on cancer patients.

Ann Coulter At Homocon: 'Marriage Is Not A Civil Right. You're Not Black.'

Ann Coulter at CPAC 2010

Ann Coulter doesn't mince words. And even when speaking to a gay conservative organization, GOProud, at their inaugural Homocon party on Saturday night, she apparently wasn't willing to start.

After a series of jokes about conservative that sounded -- and were received -- more like a stand-up act then a political speech, Coulter told the assembled (and predominantly wealthy) conservative gay crowd why they should oppose same sex marriage, adding, "I should warn you: I've never failed to talk gays out of gay marriage."

And then she did.

Sarah Palin Winning CPAC Glamour Shots War

Young America's Foundation is boosting its membership list by giving out posters of the two favorite female conservatives

Move over, Ann Coulter! Sarah Palin seems to have bumped the conservative queen from her most-favored status, if poster distribution at CPAC is any indication.

Young America's Foundation made these massive posters of Coulter and Palin and staffers are giving them away free to people who sign up for their mailing list.

Interested takers can get as many copies as they want of a Ronald Reagan "American values for all generations" calendar. They can take dozens of the free Obama posters with the words "Resist the Tyranny of Socialism" inscribed below or "Barack Obama Epic Fail" stickers, but you can only choose one top conservative gal.

TPMDC asked staffers which poster was more popular and they said they weren't keeping track, but we checked the stack and there was only one Palin left, and plenty of Coulter.

One YAF staffer admitted Palin was the hotter ticket item, and said he was disappointed she isn't speaking at CPAC.

Ann Coulter Calls Birthers "Cranks"

Memo to Birthers: Even Ann Coulter calls you a bunch of "cranks."

Appearing on Fox News this past Friday, Coulter further blamed the liberal media for using the Birthers to smear the political right, saying that multiple conservative publications looked at this issue last year and concluded that there's nothing there:

"So for CNN or MSNBC, or you Geraldo, the liberal on Fox, to be bringing this out as if it's an issue, you know, it's just a few cranks out there," said Coulter. "It's like when networks bring on the three remaining Klanners in America, on TV."

Hmm... so what does this say about Jim Inhofe?
