The checkered flag apparently has not waved yet on Rep. Betty McCollum's (D-MN) fight to strip away Pentagon funding from NASCAR.
On MSNBC this afternoon, the St. Paul, Minn., congresswoman showed no signs of backing down on her staunch criticism of the Defense Department spending $7 million sponsoring the #39 Sprint Cup U.S. Army Chevy Impala, driven by Ryan Newman.

McCollum's staff tells TPM this is the first time they've alerted the police about a threat made against here office since the health care debate.
"Yo, Slut Betty," the fax, which arrived at McCollum's DC office Thursday morning, reads. "Shut Your Phucking Pie Hole!"
The fax then goes on to say that "without exception, Marxists are enemies of the Constitution" and "Death To All Marxists, Foreign And Domestic!"

Rep. Betty McCollum (D-MN) started it when she offered up an amendment to the federal spending bill calling on the Army stop spending millions of dollars to splash its logo all over, among other things, the Sprint Cup car driven by Ryan Newman. Now Newman, and the owners of his ride, are gearing up to spin out McCollum's plan on the opening lap.
Rubbin', as they say, is racin' -- and it looks like NASCAR is ready to put the Democrats into the wall.
