Searching for an escape hatch now that the contraception wars are spinning out of their control, Republicans and conservatives are working to turn the Sandra Fluke saga into one big liberal conspiracy.
As Fluke vows that slurs won't silence women, here's a handy guide to the theories floating around on the right about the Georgetown law student who was smeared by Rush Limbaugh and has since created headaches for the GOP.

Their conclusion? No big deal.
PERMALINK | COMMENTS | RECOMMEND RECOMMEND (0)The White House says Republicans need look no further than to Fox's Bill O'Reilly for advice on breaking through the debt talk stalemate and jettisoning their stubborn opposition to any tax increases whatsoever.
In his smartly titled "Talking Points" monologue Tuesday night, the conservative guru and talking head instructed the GOP to get real when it comes to taxes.
PERMALINK | COMMENTS | RECOMMEND RECOMMEND (0)In Karl Rove's mind, the White House is really the one to blame for the continued birther hysteria.
On The O'Reilly Factor last night, the former Senior Advisor to President George W. Bush chastised the Obama Administration for not putting to rest the continued skepticism on the right about President Obama's true place of birth.
PERMALINK | COMMENTS | RECOMMEND RECOMMEND (0)President Obama sat down with Fox News host Bill O'Reilly yesterday in a pre-taped interview that aired before the Superbowl, and O'Reilly grilled him on Egypt, health care reform, and, of course, how Obama is a "big government liberal who wants to intrude on [Americans'] personal freedom."
"I think that a lot of folks who watch you, Bill, believe that," Obama replied.

PERMALINK | COMMENTS | RECOMMEND RECOMMEND (0)During an appearance last night on The O'Reilly Factor, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) and Bill O'Reilly tried to sort out just why liberals seem to be so up in arms about former President George W. Bush's authorization of waterboarding.
"He protected us. He had to dunk these three guys. And he did, and he got information. And, we captured a whole bunch of really bad, bad people from it," said O'Reilly. "Could he have gotten it another way? Maybe, maybe, okay? But, he had guys sitting there, he had psychiatrists sitting there, he had medical doctors sitting there. So, to me, I would have done the same thing. But to hear the left, this is the worst thing the United States has ever done, we're a terrible country for doing it. Why? Why are they doing this?"
Bachmann then replied sternly: "Well, it almost seems as though they need to come up with some sort of a case to defend the people who are making this action, the radical terrorist. And here, take a look at the terrorists who have beheaded people like Daniel Pearl. They don't think twice about that."

On Obama, O'Reilly argued that the President has "separated himself from the folks," which Stewart found endlessly hilarious. "That sounds like a meaningless thing to say," Stewart said, but added: "I agree with the sentiment that he ran as a visionary and he has led as a functionary."
Stewart also told O'Reilly that "the Tea Party scares you as much as it scares anybody."
"Look what they did to Rove," he said. "Oh that poor boy. The spanking that he received."
PERMALINK | COMMENTS | RECOMMEND RECOMMEND (0)Sarah Palin appeared on Bill O'Reilly's show last night to discuss the internal GOP debate over how to welcome Christine O'Donnell to the party stage. Palin had previously appeared on the network and spoken out against Karl Rove's dour comments about O'Donnell's election prospects (which he's since walked back). O'Reilly tried to smooth things over with a can't-all-us-paid-Fox-employees-just-get-along tone, and Palin ended by offering O'Donnell some branding advice.

Anthony Weiner's (D-NY) impassioned rant against Republicans on the House floor last week, there was considerable buzz about Weiner's long and colorful history of quipping and snapping his way through the cable news shows, and into our hearts.
Here's a round-up of some of Weiner's sassiest moments this year...
PERMALINK | COMMENTS | RECOMMEND RECOMMEND (0)Something truly amazing happened last night on The O'Reilly Factor: Bill O'Reilly scolded his guest, Human Events editor and video blogger Jason Mattera, for being rude to O'Reilly's long-time nemesis, Sen. Al Franken (D-MN).
Mattera posted a YouTube video a week and a half ago of himself conducting an ambush interview of Franken in the Capitol Hill hallways, in which Mattera asked questions about the health care bill and then frequently interrupted Franken as he attempted to answer. At one point, he addressed Franken as "Sen. Smalley," referring to Franken's old Saturday Night Live character Stuart Smalley, the neurotic self-help talk show host. The term "Sen. Smalley" has become a term of derision for Franken among the right.
And for that particular slight, O'Reilly chewed Mattera out.
PERMALINK | COMMENTS | RECOMMEND RECOMMEND (1)Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) appeared on the O'Reilly Factor last night, where she and O'Reilly discussed, among other things, how successful conservative women bother the left.
"See, I'm not getting -- to me, you're a conservative Republican from a Midwestern -- upper Midwestern state," said O'Reilly, "who speaks her mind articulately, does her job. Why are they coming after you? I don't get it."
"It may bother them that conservative women are happy and don't need government in order to be successful in life," Bachmann replied. "I have a great husband, great kids. I had a great career as a federal tax attorney. And I don't need government to be successful. And it seems like they have a stereotype for women and I don't fit in their stereotype."
It's interesting to see Republicans complaining that a strong and successful woman bothers the left -- considering that this is the same party that has called for Gen. McChrystal to put Speaker Nancy Pelosi "in her place."

Obama will meet with about 50 people during an upcoming fundraiser in New York City, and will discuss the race and promote Owens.
The upstate seat became open when Obama appointed GOP Rep. John McHugh as Secretary of the Army. Owens is in a three-way race with moderate Republican Dede Scozzafava, and Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman. The special election will be held on November 3.
PERMALINK | COMMENTS | RECOMMEND RECOMMEND (0)Fox News caught up with Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) at the Values Voters Summit, where she praised Fox News and slammed the competition over at MSNBC -- and even coined a new slogan for Bill O'Reilly.
Bachmann couldn't even bring herself to say the competition's name. "Whoever these guys are on MS-- they aren't a factor. The Factor is the factor," said Bachmann, in the midst of an epiphany. "You know, that's it - the Factor is the factor. That's what's important."
She also heaped praise on Bill O'Reilly and Glenn Beck, for being sources of truth: "People vote with their feet, and they love Bill O'Reilly, they love Glenn Beck, they love the shows that are on Fox. That's what matters, because people want to go where they can find truth. They obviously aren't finding truth over on some of these other channels."
