Obama Steps Up Pressure On Syrian Leader To Resign
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad
President Obama on Thursday issued his most explicit call to date for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to step down from power after months of the Syrian leader's brutal assaults on peaceful pro-reform protestors.
In a written statement, Obama urged Assad to resign and announced a host of new sanctions against the Syrian government. Previously, the President and the administration had said only that Assad had lost all credibility to rule Syria.

Dallas Tea Party leader Phillip Dennis became the latest conservative figure to express doubts about whether President Obama is a Christian or a Muslim on Hardball yesterday.
"Is Barack Obama a Muslim?" asked host Chris Matthews.
Dennis' answer: "I don't know."

It's Done! Obama To Sign Wall Street Reform
US Senators Harry Reid (D-NV) and Chris Dodd (D-CT)
It's done. The Senate this afternoon, by a vote of 60-39 passed the final version of Wall Street reform legislation -- the exact same version the House passed two weeks ago, which will now go the White House for a signature. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said that the President plans to sign the bill next week.
The development, though expected for days, represents a major achievement for President Obama and congressional Democrats -- their first landmark bill since health care. And this time it's actually popular.
But getting here wasn't easy for Democrats.

Obama Prays With Rev. Billy Graham
President Obama meets with the Rev. Billy Graham in his North Carolina home.
President Obama met Sunday in a private prayer session with the Rev. Billy Graham at his North Carolina home before heading to deliver the eulogy at a memorial for coal miners killed in the West Virginia mine accident last month.
White House Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton told reporters that Obama and Graham met for conversation and prayer, with son Franklin Graham also in attendance. The president "is extraordinarily gratified that he took the time to meet with him," Burton said.
The visit capped a brief weekend vacation for Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. The president hit the golf links twice and the first couple played tennis, hiked in the Blue Ridge Mountains and ate dinner with friends.
