Progressive groups are speaking out against the debt ceiling deal currently being hashed out in Washington. The response from two of the nation's largest organizations goes essentially like this: really?!?
Progressives are more than a little upset that the deal does not include new revenues upfront, a line in the sand President Obama drew early on in the process and apparently had to abandon as the cogs of the legislative machinery turned hours before the nation went into default. They're casting the deal outlined on the Sunday talk shows this morning as a huge win for Republicans -- and (yet another) agonizing defeat for the left.

In Wisconsin, that old fight is still raging as the recall elections approach - and progressives are firing a massive new salvo.
The Progressive Change Campaign Committee and Democracy for America are launching a new, $150,000 television buy against state Sen. Alberta Darling (R), who Democrats hope to depose with state Rep. Sandy Pasch (D). The buy will also continue an existing spot the coalition is running against state Sen. Luther Olsen (R). Both recall elections will be held Aug. 9.

It was inevitable, given the strong feelings of support Elizabeth Warren inspires in the left: A matter of hours after President Obama appointed someone else to lead the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau, the left is already hauling in thousands of dollars in campaign cash and begging Warren to run for Senate in Massachusetts.
The process is about to take the next leap, as supporters of a Warren campaign against Sen. Scott Brown launch an online ad campaign. For her part, Warren has not yet said if she'll run, though she's left the door open.

Eric Greigo, the only declared Democrat in the race to replace Rep. Martin Heinrich (D), who's leaving the House to run for Senate.
The Progressive Change Campaign Committee, which has raised hundreds of thousands of national dollars for candidates across the country, chose Greigo as its first challenger candidate of 2012 in an email sent to its national list Thursday.
