Sarah Palin's getting ready to pound the pavement on an East Coast bus tour, bringing her potential 2012 ambitions back into the spotlight. But Fox News -- where Palin serves as a contributor -- isn't ready to cut ties just yet.
"We are not changing Sarah Palin's status," Bill Shine, executive vice president of programming at Fox News, said in a statement.
PERMALINK | COMMENTS | RECOMMEND RECOMMEND (0)Republican Joe Miller's fight over the Alaska Senate write-in count just got a little help from an old friend. Sarah Palin's SarahPAC donated $5,000 to Miller's campaign yesterday, The Associated Press reports.
Miller beat Sen. Lisa Murkowski in the Republican primary, but now appears to trail her write-in campaign in the general election. Write-in ballots are currently being examined to see how many are for Murkowski.
PERMALINK | COMMENTS | RECOMMEND RECOMMEND (0)Sarah Palin, never a stranger to controversy, decided to weigh in on the one raging over the plans to build a mosque near Ground Zero -- that is, a mosque and community center two blocks north of where the Twin Towers used to stand. In the midst of it, she managed to insult Muslims, those who aren't but still support the mosque and lay a George W. Bush-level malapropism on the masses. She's a multitasker.
PERMALINK | COMMENTS | RECOMMEND RECOMMEND (3)Sarah Palin's political action committee, SarahPAC, let out a mama grizzly-style roar on Sunday. In an FEC report filed yesterday, the group disclosed that it had taken in $866,000 during the period, while giving out $87,500 in contributions. SarahPAC now has over $1 million in cash on hand.
PERMALINK | COMMENTS | RECOMMEND RECOMMEND (0)There is a "mom awakening" in the United States, with women who don't like the country's "fundamental transformation" acting just like "mama grizzlies" trying to protect their cubs. At least according to SarahPAC's first web video.
PERMALINK | COMMENTS | RECOMMEND RECOMMEND (0)Sarah Palin may be uber-popular among the conservative base, her endorsement highly sought after by mid-level candidates -- but she's not doing so well among her fellow Alaskans.
Not one Alaska resident donated to Palin's "SarahPAC" in the first quarter of 2010, according to FEC reports. In the second half of 2009, only 33 donations -- out of some 2,000 totaling $1.4 million -- came from her home state. In the first half of the year, it was 29.
Palin resigned as governor of Alaska in July 2009, halfway through her first term. The state has factored largely into her personal story, and was something she mentioned frequently while campaigning as Sen. John McCain's running mate in 2008.
PERMALINK | COMMENTS | RECOMMEND RECOMMEND (0)For all her 2012 denials, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is sure sounding like a presidential candidate in her fundraising emails.
Palin (R) asks supporters for up to $5,000 in donations, and anything over $100 gets a free, signed copy of "Going Rogue."
She says Ronald Reagan "showed us the way" and "charted the course for us," and goes on to quote C.S. Lewis:
C. S. Lewis once wrote: "We all want progress, but if you are on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road." We need to get back on the right road. In order to progress, we must return to our founding principles of limited government, fiscal responsibility, and strong national defense.
Palin says she'll help commonsense candidates "regardless of party" and asks for fundraising help with a peppy message:
"We won't let anyone tell us to sit down and shut up. We're going to stand up, stand together, and fight for what's right!"
Palin's full email after the jump.
