It's baaaack.
Months after President Obama put to bed most remaining doubts about his origins by releasing his long-form birth certificate, a Republican member of Congress from Michigan is strongly suggesting the matter needs some attention from the U.S. Department of Justice.
Welcome back to the birther debate, courtesy of Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI).

Moments after House Republicans (and three Democrats) voted to repeal President Obama's health care law, TV ads went live in the districts of three GOP freshmen in contested districts to knock them for that vote.
The ads target Reps. Jim Renacci (R-OH), who ousted John Boccieri in November, Jon Runyan (R-NJ) who knocked off John Adler, and Tim Walberg (R-MI), who defeated Mark Schauer.

Current folks that we've kept track of have included Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), Rep. Steve King (R-IA), and Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA). It can be hard, looking at a crop of 60 incoming freshmen, to know exactly who will or won't distinguish themselves in this area. But in particular, four GOP pickups offer a lot of promise.
Other folks could very well pop up in the next two years, but these four bear close watching.

Former Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI) took a walk on the birther side this week, saying on a radio show that "we don't have enough information about this president" to say whether or not he's a Muslim or was born in the U.S., according to the Jackson Citizen Patriot.
PERMALINK | COMMENTS | RECOMMEND RECOMMEND (0)Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC), the man who became a star among conservative activists when he yelled "You lie!" during President Obama's speech to Congress, is hitting the road for another Republican politician.
Wilson will be traveling to Michigan, the Detroit Free Press reports, to headline a fundraiser for former Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI), who lost re-election in 2008 and is seeking a comeback against Democratic Rep. Mark Schauer.
The Walberg campaign's official invitation for the event has a slogan underneath Wilson's picture: "Stand for Truth."
Schauer's spokesperson gave the Free Press this statement: "By embracing his former colleague, Tim Walberg has made it clear that he embraces what is wrong with Washington and is not serious about fixing our broken health care system. If you are the company you keep, then Tim Walberg stands with Joe Wilson and the obstructionists."
